We have an exciting opportunity for the right leader to join U.S. Bank as the Sr Director of AI Machine Learning Platform and Engineering in the data engineering organization. AIML is one of the four pillars for data success here at U.S. Bank. It is a strategic focus to enable U.S. Bank to leverage latest and greatest AIML technology including Generative AI in delivering business and customer success. This position will be part of data engineering leadership and be responsible for all AIML platforms including both traditional and GenAI. This will be a hands-on senior leadership role with extensive knowledge of various data and AIML technology spanning cross AIML life cycle including but not limited to feature engineering, model development/training, model deployment, runtime, monitoring and continuous measure/refinement. The candidate is expected to have demonstrated success in leading world class engineering organization, building enterprise grade AIML platform/solution, and translating technology investment to business success.
Given the rapid pace of new technologies in Data & AIML we have an incredible opportunity for someone to join and build a technical AMIL platform and engineering organization dedicated to U.S. Bank digital success with our customers. This role will be a key leader leading our journey in building out next generation AIML platform ecosystem on cloud. The leader will partner within teams cross the company to ensure overall success with AIML for the use cases and priorities at U.S. Bank and meet compliance/regulation requirements.
This role will provide technical thought leadership to formulate and implement key technology and architecture decisions, foster and establish a strong engineering discipline along SDLC, hire and build a strong engineering organization, and be a catalyst at U.S. Bank to improve the success of AIML.
Responsibilities:
• Build a strong engineering organization by recruiting tech talents, coaching/guiding the teams cross levels, encouraging ownership and accountability, and fostering engineering culture
• Lead and contribute to AMIL strategy, roadmap, key architecture and technology decision
• Drive AIML platform and engineering execution along SDLC cycle and continue
improving SDLC success
• Champion operation success for AIML platform that meets business and customer need by taking a data driven approach with devops mindset
• Take a customer centric approach and coach/guide engineering team to
design/implement platform capabilities that leads to self-service success with
developer community
• Partner with business stakeholders, product managers, and other technical team members to define, formulate and communicate business success with
AIML portfolio
• Be a change agent/catalyst in improving U.S. Bank AMIL process and best practice
Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, or related field with an emphasis on data and databases is required (Master’s degree is strongly preferred)
• At least 10 years of relevant work experience and 5+ years experience in leading engineering organization in building business critical data and AIML platform and capabilities
• Extensive working knowledge of data and AIML ecosystem, technology, and industry best practice
• Industry knowledge of solution patterns within the data domain, including working with structured and unstructured data and transactional and analytical solutions, preferably on Azure and AWS
• Demonstrated ability to develop useful, secure, reliable, and high-performing
solutions for digital success with AIML technologies
• Ability to translate complex technical terminology, concepts and issues in terms understandable to technical and non-technical management and staff
• Demonstrated experience and success in partnering with business and delivering business critical data success
• Enterprise reporting and data science/machine learning background as a plus
• Ability to communicate end to end data outcomes to all levels of the team hierarchy
• Great teamwork, “can do” attitude, exemplified ownership/accountability
The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
