Overview
ABM is seeking transitioning service members for an HVAC Technician I SkillBridge opportunity. Participants will gain hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing HVAC and refrigeration equipment, controls, chilled-water systems, boilers, and other mechanical and building systems.
During SkillBridge, participants continue receiving military pay and benefits and are not employed or compensated by ABM. Successful completion may lead to consideration for paid ABM employment based on qualifications, performance, licensing, business needs, and position availability.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical equipment issues
- Inspect and adjust thermostats, controls, relays, burners, and related components
- Use HVAC tools, including multimeters and refrigerant gauges
- Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs
- Maintain service records and daily work logs
- Follow safety standards, work instructions, and customer requirements
- Assist customers and support other assigned duties
Qualifications

Candidates with experience in the following military occupational specialties are encouraged to apply
- Army: 91C – Utilities Equipment Repairer
- Air Force: 3E1X1 / 3E131 – Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
- Navy: UT / H190 – Utilitiesman
- Marine Corps: 1161 – Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician
- Coast Guard: MK – Machinery Technician; DC – Damage Controlman
