About the role
Uses sophisticated skills to perform complex preventive maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, industrial systems, vehicles, equipment and grounds. Working under limited supervision, monitors building system operations and performance. Applies several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating and cooling. Candidates with a Universal License are preferred.
What you’ll do
- This role strongly prefers experience in manufacturing facilities and/or industrial sites
- Aligns with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.
- Inspects building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by client.
- Oversees and inspects the work performed by outside contractors. Contracted work includes landscaping, snow removal, remodeling, HVAC, plumbers, and cleaning.
- Performs assigned repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance. Completes' maintenance and repair records as required.
- Reviews assigned work orders. Estimates time and materials needed to complete repair. Orders vital materials and supplies to finish the tasks.
- Maintains an energy management program to ensure measures are taken to operate all systems in the most efficient manner to keep operating costs at a minimum.
- Maintains the building lighting system, including element and ballast repairs or replacements.
- Performs welding, carpentry, furniture assembly and locksmith tasks as needed.
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Building Engineer to join our team. As a Building Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of various building systems and equipment. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.
Duties:
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of building systems, including HVAC/R, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions
- Fabricate or modify parts as needed
- Respond to work orders and service requests in a timely manner
- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance of building systems
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities
- Collaborate with other team members to address complex issues
- Provide excellent customer service to building occupants
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of HVAC/R systems and mechanical principles
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints
- Proficient in welding and fabrication techniques
- Experience as an industrial electrician is preferred
- Familiarity with low voltage electrical systems is a plus
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
What you’ll need
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred and a minimum of 3 years of related experience and/or trade school training.
- Universal CFC certification preferred. 608 certification / Universal / EPA preferred.
- Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding.
- Requires basic knowledge of financial terms and principles.
- Uses personal computer and / or PDA for work order system, email, ESS and training. Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook.
- Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
- Decisions made with general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results.
