Job Summary
Conduct cost analysis across internal services, public cloud offerings (Azure, AWS, GCP) and private cloud (on-premises infrastructure). Produce financial insights on cloud resource understanding and management. Identify and drive cost saving and efficiency opportunities with engineering teams. Perform analysis and present regular operational reviews to leadership on financial analysis of cloud computing spend for the company.
Create metrics, reports, and recommend remediation plan options for financial excellence in the cloud. Analyze spend trends, opportunities for savings, and advise engineering teams with specific recommendations for improvement.
Foster healthy relationships with teams in Finance, Procurement and third party vendors, often working with multiple groups simultaneously to ensure that cloud financial workflows are completed accurately and on time.
Establish a catalogue of existing cloud FinOps process documentation to be updated with process improvements and innovations; regularly conduct trainings on cloud FinOps methodologies to grow the cloud financial acumen of both technical and non-technical teams.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
- Participate in deep architectural discussions to help product/project teams make the most cost-efficient choices in the financial aspects of Discovery, Estimation, Planning, and Execution process on Cloud Financials
- Define and create the financial models for internal cloud services
- Oversee the Cloud budget while working closely with Cloud Ops team in order to meet financial objectives
- Facilitate strategic service reviews with leadership
- Establish standard costs for physical and virtual computing resources
- Develop framework for build vs buy decision-making
- Facilitate cloud cost forecast vs actual spend reviews, often alongside multiple organizations outside Technology and external consultants
- Provide financial analysis of business unit on-premise spend, translating it to cloud spend in formal business cases where analysis may include projections for cost of tools, maintenance, depreciation/amortization, the impairment of assets, and labor efficienciesProvide discounted cash flow comparison between on-premise spend and cloud spend to support business cases and when necessary, compile and present qualitative aspects of the migration business case to client stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, engineering/computer science, or another relevant field that demonstrates quantitative competence
- 5+ years knowledge of cloud services and platforms, with deep level of exposure to both public cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP) and private cloud (on-premises infrastructure)
- Advanced skills in CloudHealth, Power BI, Excel (traditional and Power Platform)Proficient coding ability in analysis languages (M, DAX, SQL, Python and PowerShell)
Equivalent Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED7+ years of relevant experience within a financial team, focused on planning analytics
Preferred Qualifications
- FinOps Certified Practitioner Certification
- Existing knowledge and expertise in Azure, AWS and GCPAzure Cloud Practitioner certification
