Responsibilities
The principle tasks of the VL QM are as follows:
- Provide assurance of the BDUK Quality Management System and its related processes.
- Develop, maintain and execute an Internal Quality Audit Schedule for Vertical Lift which feeds into the BDUK Quality Plan satisfying the requirements of RA 4815(3).
- Support the BDUK Senior QM in preparation for external quality audits and formulation of any resulting action plans to ensure effective root cause corrective actions.
- Attain Lead Auditor status for completion of internal audits for functions and programmes and agree any resulting corrective action plans and their effective completion.
- Ensure effective management of Programme Quality requirements (as required) and support the implementation of new Programmes / Initiative through early quality involvement with Programmes and participation in the gated review process including:
- Review Statement of Work (SoW) and Statement of Requirements (SoRs)
- Creating relevant Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for Quality Resources
- Collaborate with the BDUK Senior QM to drive continuous improvement from a quality perspective. This will include taking the lead in Process Management activities designed to target specific processes including support on continuous improvement boards and providing data (as required) for Quality Dashboards providing visibility to BDUK LT.
- Review potential suppliers for inclusion on the VL list of approved suppliers and assist with the transition and development of the new Supplier Quality roles within BDUK.
- Provide training, coaching / mentoring and promote the BDUK Quality Management System and the tools used company wide to drive effectiveness and simplification.
- Support the wider BGS Total Quality initiatives including active participation in Boeing Total Quality Week sharing best practices with our colleagues worldwide.
- Provide input on quality strategies, goals, objectives and related metrics to ensure alignment with Our Values – Lead on safety, quality, integrity and sustainability
- Provide regular reports on agreed metrics / key performance indicators as they relate to programme performance, contract requirements and customer expectation
- Support company efforts to ensure that deliverables comply with customer, company, quality, industry and regulatory requirements
- Responsible for the management and execution of Quality Control inspection requirements on the CH47 modifications programmes supporting Operations personnel with mods embodiment. This activity also requires engagement with our MRB Engineering Team, Field Service Representatives (FSRs) and Customer Support Engineers (CSEs)
- Liaise with the Defense Quality Assurance Field Force (D-QAFF) in support of any Engine Ground Running (EGRC) or Flight Test requirements conducted under our CFAOS governance, which will require Flight Authorisation Certificates. This may also require engagement with the respective platform CAMO and BDUK CAMSS personnel.
- Act as delegated Quality Form 4 holder for Aircraft Maintenance iaw RA4806.
Additional Tasks
Management responsibilities for the VL Quality Team co-located across 4 sites including; on-going performance discussions and personnel development. Provide onsite Quality support and collaboration to VL Operations Team through the ‘Tiered Meeting’ structure and implementation of ‘Boeing Production System’. Ensure a collaborative working relationship is maintained with the Senior Operations and the Office of Part 145 in light of any new proposed changes within the statement of work or organisation structure and ensure these are compliant with the regulation’s framework and our regulatory approvals
Authority
You have authority to liaise with the MAA, functions and any stakeholders in execution of your role at the VL QM. The Senior QM has direct access to the AM(M) ensuring they are kept informed on Quality and compliance matters.
Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
- Formal Aerospace / Engineering/Quality Qualification (e.g. Military Service, Licensed Engineer, Degree / HNC or equivalent)
- Previous Quality Management Experience (Commercial, Military or Production Orgs)
- Previous leadership experience (preferred)
- Familiarity with MAA Regulatory Framework (MAOS, DAOS and CFAOS)
- Knowledge of Aerospace Standards (ISO9001, AS9110C / AS9100D)
- Practical knowledge on the implementation of a QMS and associated processes
- Practical understanding, application and utilisation of continuous improvement techniques (e.g. RCCA techniques, Lean)
- Lead / Internal Auditor experience (preferred)
Work Authorisation
This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom. Boeing will not attempt to obtain Immigration and labour sponsorship for any applicants. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.
Security Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a UK security clearance for which the Government requires UK Citizenship and 5 year consecutive residency in the UK.
Relocation: This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
