The AlphaWise Quant team in Equity Research is seeking talented, self-motivated, and hard-working candidates in New York, at VP level, to conduct quantamental research and use AI & ML generating alpha by working with our first-class equity analyst teams.
Primary responsibilities include:
Combine quantitative processes with fundamental insights to forecast company key performance indicator (KPI), develop sector-specific signals, and build conviction on stock calls.
Develop, backtest, and implement quant models to test the efficacy of various alternative data.
Explore cutting edge tools such as genAI/LLMs to gain insights into new alpha.
Publish leading research insight notes and present at industry conferences.
Actively source new ideas and collaborate with other research teams; Partner closely with sales, providing quant proof statements to both internal and external clients.
Build tools to query, clean, analyze raw data through databases, and work closely with technology team to design standardized framework to streamline the process for hosting data from various type and sources.
Advanced degree in quantitative field such as statistics, data science, computer science, financial engineering, PhD preferred.
Strong programming skills in Python, Q/kdb, 1-5 years’ development in UNIX/Linux environment.
Deep understanding of statistics learning methods, proficiency working with large dataset, Deep Learning/LLMs experience a plus.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to present quant solutions clearly to both internal and external clients.
Creative thinking and problem-solving skills; able to independently tackle research problems that have commercial impact
Team oriented; able to collaborate with a range of functional teams and resolve conflicts as necessary.
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $185,000 and $225,000 at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
