MetLife Investment Management (MIM) is searching for a Junior Analyst to join the Portfolio Returns and Oversight (PRO) team in Whippany. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the accurate and timely delivery of portfolio Net Asset Values (NAVs) to our internal and external clients. The individual will be responsible for monitoring portfolio valuation screens and delivering monthly and quarterly performance and portfolio reporting to stakeholders in client servicing, investment compliance, risk, and portfolio management. The individual will also contribute to projects related to system functionality and data integrity. The PRO team is part of MetLife’s Operations department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain data feeds into performance and attribution data and systems.
- Research root causes of issues, propose solutions, and drive their resolution in a timely manner.
- Audit MIM’s performance measurement applications to ensure accuracy of returns.
- Troubleshoot and correct inaccurate data in a timely manner.
- Develop and implement controls around data input and production output.
- Develop reporting capabilities in the performance measurement applications.
- Continually work to improve existing processes to gain efficiency, such as identifying automation opportunities.
- Interpret and explain valuation results and investigate anomalies.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
- 0-2 years’ experience in working in investment management operations preferred
- Basic understanding of debt structures in one or more of the following areas: private credit and/or public fixed income.
- Strong analytical and quantitative reasoning skills.
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles and concepts.
- Undergraduate degree required in a technical, mathematical, or financial/accounting/business field.
Preferred:
- Exposure to coding languages such as Python, SQL, VBA, etc. is a plus.
- Focus on security valuation, portfolio accounting, or performance measurement a plus.
