Job Description
NBCUniversal has an opportunity for a talented individual to join their dynamic Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Team working in close partnership with the Business Continuity & Crisis Management team. The purpose of this position is to support overall EHS program implementation with an emphasis on the Universal City Studios group. The successful candidate will also be primary for ensuring that applicable EHS training is made available, new training is developed as needed, manage training systems to support internal clients, and facilitate training between third party software platforms and internal clients. The ideal candidate must have strong technical knowledge, self-motivation qualities and excellent interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
The NBCUniversal Team is looking for an EHS Manager. The EHS Manager will be a source of expertise for the business to protect employees, comply with the law and protect the environment. The EHS Manager is the primary face of the EHS Department to the operating groups. The EHS Manager will be the resource to solve EHS issues in a preventative manner and will be the person who will inspect and audit work activities to ensure safe and compliant operations. The EHS Manager will be expected to get results through influence. They will be expected to be a subject matter expert in one or more technical health and safety areas.
What You’ll Do:
- Extensive experience in assessing and abating health and safety hazards.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and to successfully interact with various departments within the organization to find solutions to health and safety concerns and ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA requirements.
- Serves as technical advisor and problem solver for departmental teams.
- Manage injury and illness investigations and associated record keeping.
- Manage various health and safety programs.
- Manage the Inspections Program and conduct inspections as required.
- Oversee the monthly Safety Team meetings and conduct additional health and safety training on a variety of topics.
- Direct incident investigations and perform root cause analyses.
- Perform safety risk assessments of selected operations.
- Advise, direct and instruct personnel on correct implementation of technical EHS requirements.
- Perform audits of high-risk activities.
- Develop and analyze weekly and monthly metrics.
- Manage the Contractor Safety Program.
- Participate in the Safety Team meetings including developing content and presenting.
- Infrequently interact and provide guidance to tenants and non-employees.
- Interact with government agencies including Cal/OSHA, FAA, DHS and others.
- Respond to Safety Hotline calls. Respond to emergencies during work and off hours.
- Document work in EHS information management system – Gensuite.
- Participate in site, corporate or industry working groups as required.
- Conduct health and safety program audits.

What You Must Have:
- Comfortable working in an environment where your direction will only occur through the powers of influence
- Completed bachelor degree in EHS, engineering, chemistry or biology or another related field
- An understanding of the legislative structure of OSHA and Cal/OSHA
- Minimum of 7 years of EHS experience
- Five years of professional experience in leading health and safety programs and projects
- Computer savvy. Must be comfortable working with enterprise software and Microsoft Suite
- Excellent professional verbal and written communication skills
What Would Make You a Stand-out:
- Completed master’s degree in EHS
- Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist
- Experience with Gensuite
- 1-5 years of experience in media, entertainment or film

- Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week.
