Amazon Web Services has an opening for a Technical Writer located in Seattle, WA or Dallas, TX who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and has a content and technical writing background. As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining customer-focused content for technical and non-technical audiences.
You will work with other Technical Writers, AWS builders, and subject matter experts to create and revise public facing documentation for various user guides across multiple AWS services. You will play a role in the development of a successful and effective global AWS Support team, including the development and management of content strategy, reviewing key metrics to ensure the availability of high quality content, and collaborating with AWS builders to review and revise content.
Key job responsibilities
The primary responsibilities for a Technical Writer include:
- Collaborate with AWS service teams to optimize and maintain public-facing user guides, developer guides, onboarding guides, and API documentation while maintaining a high bar for quality.
- Triage feedback on public-facing guides and take action to prioritize feedback.
- Work directly with development teams and AWS Support stakeholders to produce world-class content.
- Create and maintain integrated help content on the AWS service consoles and review/revise public-facing error messages.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external global stakeholders to conceptualize and develop content that strengthens the AWS brand.
- Create, maintain, and edit content that is used by a wide audience with varying skill levels.
- Manage all aspects of the documentation process—planning, testing, maintaining, and delivery.
- Use metrics to identify underperforming content and present/implement a plan for improvement.
- Use writing expertise and extraordinary attention to detail to evaluate, uphold, implement, and evangelize content standards that reflect the voice of AWS.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $70,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $173,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
