The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Project Odyssey Training and Quality Assurance Manager supports Wounded Warrior Project’s Mental Health and Wellness programs by serving wounded service members dealing with invisible injuries (e.g., post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other forms of military trauma, and operational stress) through Project Odyssey. The Project Odyssey training and support manager leads a team that will train program teammates to plan, manage, and execute all aspects of multi-day mental health workshops and virtual program delivery through a learning management system to provide support and resources to warriors and their families to enhance their resiliency and psychological well-being.
Note: Project Odyssey is a five-day outdoor experiential learning program that encourages wounded warriors to challenge themselves both physically and mentally while in a supportive environment. Project Odyssey is also delivered in a virtual space over the course of six to twelve weeks using a learning management system.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the development, delivery, and evaluation of Project Odyssey training programs including on-line, instructor led, and blended learning for professional and managerial staff.
Manage a team of training and support professionals focused on delivering a high level of service, training support, and subject matter expertise to Project Odyssey teammates, Mental health and wellness teammates and organizational stakeholders.
Manage learning initiatives focused on new teammate training, Program specific skills and knowledge, and competency building through individual and group training and development.
Assist with change management and program development initiatives.
Partner with senior leadership and other stakeholders in the development of short- and long-term learning strategies that support current and program and organizational needs.
Manage the design and delivery of program applications training using multimedia and eLearning authoring tools.
Apply creative approaches and instructional methodologies to the design, delivery, and evaluation of learning content, e.g., custom eLearning, video, and simulation.
Collaborate with subject matter experts to understand content and learning requirements to support the development process.
Manage training and compliance content in the Program’s Learning Management System and ensure proper tracking and reporting of learning transcript completion.
Conduct analysis on training effectiveness, maintain appropriate metrics, and recommend improvements to program as necessary.
Serve as a mentor to the team, developing their skills and abilities, and supporting them as they provide programmatic multi-day and virtual mental health workshops focused on enhancing warriors’ resiliency and psychological well-being.
Coordinate with the region’s Regional Directors on local and national initiatives.
Monitor team performance. Collect and analyze relevant data and prepare statistical reports with performance metrics to demonstrate the productivity, quality, and effectiveness of Project Odyssey (face-to-face and virtually).
Ensure the continuity of care of warriors and Family Support Members (FSMs) through appropriate resource referrals to external partners and internal programs.
Ensure case documentation and data are maintained accurately, timely, and appropriately within WWP internal databases. Review warrior referrals and cases and evaluate assessments and responses.
Promote a supportive working environment where employees are encouraged to proactively address issues and solve problems.
Establish effective working relationships and work collaboratively with all WWP programs and teammates.
Establish effective working relationships and work collaboratively with local and regional partners, i.e., Veterans Administration, Veteran Service Organizations, Mental Health Resources, and other partners that may further the WWP mission.
Evaluate Project Odyssey programmatic goals to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
Maintain current knowledge of available, relevant technologies and best practices to enhance efficiencies.
Leverage technical skills to achieve effective delivery of programming in a virtual environment.
Prepare briefings and reports for leadership.
Participate in strategic planning activities.
Participate developing and managing department budget.

EXPERIENCE
Requirements
Five years of experience designing and delivering experiential learning-based veteran healthcare-focused programs.
Five years of experience working with military or veterans’ population in support of their development and readjustment.
Three years of experience designing and implementing broad scale instructor-led, technology-based, and blended learning programs and initiatives.
Three years of staff management or leadership experience.
Preferences
Five years of experience working with and providing support to wounded service members who are dealing with both visible and invisible injuries, e.g., brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, other forms of military trauma and combat stress.
Five years cumulative experience in the Field delivering experientially based programs to veterans and various populations.

EDUCATION
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, mental health counseling, human services, social work, rehabilitation counseling, or related mental health field. Equivalent combination of education, experience, training, or certification may be considered in lieu of degree.

Master’s degree in psychology, mental health counseling, human services, social work, rehabilitation counseling, or related mental health field or a business-related field concentration.
