To maintain and repair all equipment to meet minimum standards set forth by the Department of Transportation. Also the technician must meet the standards of Werner Maintenance. This will include refrigerant and systems repairs as well as regular trailer maintenance and repairs. Due to the nature of the essential job functions of this role, this is a safety sensitive position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The job functions listed below represent the essential job duties and responsibilities of the above-listed position.
• Service, repairs and maintain refrigerated units on trailers. This will include evacuation and recharging refrigeration units, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems and perform repairs to these
refrigerated units.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and lighting systems and associated parts.
• Repair or replace chassis components such as, springs, spring hangers, equalizers, complete slider assemblies, axles, sub frames and its associated parts, air bags and air system components.
• Repair or replace ICC’s, ICC braces, mud flap brackets, dolly leg assemblies, and any other associated part by means of welding or cutting with oxy-acetylene torch.
• Repair or replace flooring, rub rails, doors and door trim, and minor repairs to roofs, panels, nose panels, lower and upper rails, and all associated parts.
• Remove and replace brakes, brake drums, hubs, seals, bearings, races, etc.
• Clean own personal area during and at the end of each shift.
• Assist in performing any task outside those not listed in primary job functions.
• Timely and regular attendance according to the scheduled shift as determined by supervisory personnel.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Comprehensive knowledge of all systems pertaining to tractor/trailer and refrigerant operations.
• Knowledge and use of hand tools from simple wrenches to pneumatic tools
• Ability to diagnose, trouble shoot, repair any mechanical, electrical problems and refrigerant sys.
• Ability to use a MIG welder, Plasma cutter and oxy-acetylene torch. Refrigerant recovery equipment.
• Ability to lift in excess of 75 lbs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• High school grad or GED. Ability to read and write and do basic math functions.
• Minimum 6 months refrigerated trailer unit repairs.
• 608 EPA/ Refrigerant recovery certification.
• Valid drivers license and good driving record.
