Job Overview & Responsibilities
The Software Lab Engineer will have the overall responsibility for ensuring that processes, policies, configurations and procedures are in place and followed by the users of the lab.
- The Software Lab Engineer shall be responsible for over-seeing/assisting with Flight Avionics sell-off activities, ensuring the cross-program team are following procedures and documenting activities
- The Software Lab Engineer shall assist the Lab Coordinator in coordinating moves, maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, installation and placement of lab hardware
- The Software Lab Engineer shall assist the Lab Area Owner in Lab change management, working with lab users and stakeholders in ensuring the lab is configuration managed and all changes are managed
- The Software Lab Engineer will assist lab users with troubleshooting lab hardware, learning how to perform initial troubleshooting efforts and documenting lab issues including hardware and software commands
- The Software Lab Engineer will coordinate with a cross-functional team on lab hardware upgrades/obsolescence, operating system patching, software updates, and drivers
Required Education
Bachelor
Required Years of Experience
Minimum of 4 years of related work experience
Basic Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) or a related technical field from an accredited college or university.
- Four years of directly related exempt work experience may be used to satisfy the bachelor’s degree requirement.
- Experience in creating, maintaining and following procedures to be used in a lab setting.
- Ability to read/follow schematic drawings to ensure both proper lab configuration and accurate procedural documentation.
- Prior experience running a working lab.
- Must be able to attain Hardware Handling Certification in order to meet the physical demands of the Lab environment.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs., bend, kneel, squat, stoop, work overhead, reach above shoulder level, sit, stand, walk (sometimes on uneven surfaces), and climb.
- Experience with utilizing debugging tools such as Ohmmeters, Oscilloscopes and other diagnostic tools.
- Familiarity using both Windows and Linux operating systems and comfortable working from the command line interface.
- Experience in managing small projects in a lab setting.
- Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with Test Like you Fly Philosophy.
- Ability to travel (10%).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience troubleshooting both hardware and software lab assets.
Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver only): $111,700.00 - $174,504.00
Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
