As a Specialist, you’ll be responsible for the daily resolution of various cases and suspense accounts and for the development of complex transactions required to ensure proper reporting. You’ll need to reconcile expenses and payables for the major lines of business. In addition, you’ll need to complete manual marketing allowance ledger accruals and reconciliation. We’ll count on you to lead project work for all new products/ product changes and new systems. You’ll also have opportunities to work with all internal and external customers to provide timely payments to customers, following all Nationwide financial protocols and generally accepted accounting principles. You will lead the analysis and resolution of audits, working directly with internal auditors, external auditors and regulatory support teams.

Key Responsibilities:
Assures balancing and reconciliation of various cases and suspense accounts.
Collects and maintains adjusting entries and monthly balances.
Leads the development of complex transactions required to ensure proper reporting.
Analyzes financial reports and statements.
Reviews and approves requests for manual payments.
Provides service to customers by demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of their needs, emphasizing timely responses and initiating appropriate follow-up.
Trains other team members on work functions and processing procedures.
Prepares, updates and maintains procedure materials and manuals.
Acts as a technical source to answer questions from other departments.
Acts as a lead analyst ensuring implementation of new products, systems and business processes. Works mainly with business, finance and Nationwide Technology partners to establish process, accounting and control procedures.
Acts as main contact and analyst for internal and external audits concerning commission expenses, balance sheet accounts financial controls and business processes.
Acts as a lead analyst in testing and completes certifications for management approval.
Act as a lead analyst, providing financial data and answering questions for financial and regulatory audits.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager/Director.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies in accounting, finance or related field.
Experience: Typically requires five or more years of experience in accounting, finance, tax reporting or customer service.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Ability to identify and evaluate problems and determine the appropriate actions. Ability to analyze, discover and solve processing problems. Strong verbal and written communication with internal/external sources. Ability to set work priorities that meet established standards. Operate personal computer and related software.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
