Job Summary
The Xfinity WiFi Deployment team is responsible for all aspect of deployment of our wireless network nationally, from site ID through install. This Senior Manager leads Deployment Operations, managing a team of Engineers through the deployments for the CBRS side, focusing on the testing and certification.
Job Description
This Senior Manager leading deployment operations will coordinate and support the field technicians and engineers who are testing the devices and preparing them for launch. We are forecasting deployment of 8000 WiFi and Cellular devices in five major markets over the next year. You will be based in Philadelphia in our cutting-edge Comcast Technology Center; some travel may be necessary.
Core Responsibilities
- Creates and owns a Center of Excellence for daily wireless install support.
- Develops, implements, and maintains a carrier-class wireless deployment support model.
- Identifies and drives synergies in the operations process across regions in wireless deployments.
- Manages team of engineers to validate installations according to wireless standards.
- Leads research of new technology areas. Analyzes and evaluates changes in technology and defines current and future departmental objectives. Oversees the monitoring and evaluation of competitive applications and products.
- Implements and supervises design activities across platforms, teams and third parties. Serves as primary point of contact and liaison between Research and other teams, including other divisions. Monitors and tracks project progress and reports findings to leadership team. Manages cross-project communications.
- Manages and coordinates the initial development and architecture of designs for future products and applications that best support the Company's technology and engineering roadmap.
- Guides business, marketing and product management units on latest technological trends and developments. Ensures the continuous improvement of processes and standards.
- Evaluates solutions presented to the Company by various partners and vendors. Develops and manages case studies, testing and reporting.
- Provides leadership and direction to Technical Research and Development staff by setting goals, objectives, performance criteria and departmental standards. Ensures researchers keep current with developments within their area of expertise.
- Assists leadership team with forecasting project estimates, resource needs and timelines.
- Manages department and project budget, as well as the schedules of product releases and project timetables.
Qualifications:
Strong communication skills
Plant engineering/construction experience
Understanding of DOCSIS cable plant, power supplies
Experience in Outside Plant (OSP) preferred
Ability to problem solve and work independently
