The System Safety Engineering Team within Lockheed Martin Space, has an exciting mid-career opportunity for a Software Safety Engineer at our Denver facility. This position merges your Software Engineering Skillset with your Systems Engineering Skillset in support of the System Safety Engineering goals.
In this role, you will use your expertise to ensure that safety is crafted into software and eventually hardware products and that controls are incorporated and remain effective while assuring compliance to safety requirements.
Your diverse array of responsibilities include:
• Generation and maintenance Software Safety Program Plans (SSPP) including SW Level of Rigor (LOR)
• Defining hardware/software safety requirements and ensuring flow-down into the Systems Engineering SW process
• Assist in performing a variety of hazard analyses across the full product life cycle, to include Preliminary Hazard List (PHL), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA), System Hazard Analysis (SHA), Operating and Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), and Software Safety Hazard Analysis
• Assist in reviewing engineering design specifications, SW development, change proposals, deficiency reports, and deviation/waiver requests for safety impacts
• Support SW integration and qualification testing
• Participate in incident investigations and root cause/corrective action analyses
• Assist in preparation of presentations, analyses, and reports for government safety boards, program design reviews, and test/mission readiness reviews
• There may be some travel associated with this role to support program needs

• Knowledge and experience with the SW development lifecycle, documentation, and verification of requirements
• Active Secret security clearance; US Citizenship required
Desired Skills:• Experience in SW Coding
• Knowledge and application of System Safety design and operations safety principles to include experience with hazard identification, analysis, risk mitigation and/or associated deliverable documentation.
• Experience using MIL-STD-882E, DO-178C, and SSMAN 91-710, or other relevant industry and/or range safety standards
• Experience defining safety requirements, influencing design to integrate safety requirements, and verifying safety requirements.
• Experience participating in System Safety Working Groups
• Familiarity with MBSE
• Familiarity with DOORs
• Familiarity with SW Safety Level of Rigor
• Effective communication skills with the ability to
engage and interact in group meeting/working
environments with team members, development
organizations and customers
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel,PowerPoint, Outlook)

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate:The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington or Washington DC is $85,900 - $164,600. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
