Tap into your passion for sustainability to join our Operational Sustainability team as a Finance Associate. Our team is responsible for the Firm’s carbon management strategy, including tracking and reporting the Firm’s GHG emissions and progress toward our operational sustainability targets. The team also coordinates the implementation of operational sustainability efforts across the corporate functions, manages sustainability-focused employee engagement, and identifies and sources carbon credits.
As a Finance Associate in Operational Sustainability, you will be responsible for partnering across the firm to provide financial and strategic analysis, oversight, and coordination of budgeting and forecasting. Our Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) teams are responsible for a wide range of activities including financial control, forecasting and budgeting, analysis of financial/business metrics, delivery of weekly/monthly/quarterly management reporting, and development of new reporting capabilities (e.g. dashboards).
Job responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage budget and outlook submissions for Operational Sustainability working closely with partner teams to ensure strategy and transactions are accurately reflected
- Perform variance analysis to understand the key drivers of the results and presenting commentary to FP&A managers and line of business CFOs explaining changes from prior forecasts/budgets
- Act as liaison between the Operational Sustainability team and Controller/P&A teams to ensure alignment on monthly financials and variance analysis
- Support financial modelling and business cases for CAO sustainability initiatives
- Own the firm’s internal carbon price allocation
- Develop and own sustainability financial reporting, including the cost to meet sustainability targets and monthly executive reporting
- Develop subject-matter expertise on operational sustainability priorities, including renewable energy, carbon, water, waste and sustainable buildings
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Background in finance or accounting
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong project management and organizational skills, including attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively in a small team and proactively cultivate relationships with a diverse range of internal and external partners
- Ability to excel in a high-performance, professional environment, while managing multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to connect and distill trends and insights
- Experience or interest in sustainability
- Excellent judgment
- Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) and presentation skills
- Strong initiative, entrepreneurial spirit and ability to think creatively
