Position Overview
The Area Mgr, Rigging will assist the Regional Rigging Manager in support of overseeing the rigging operations within the assigned region. The Area Mgr, Rigging will be responsible for ensuring the upmost in internal and external customer satisfaction, delivery, and support of the Rigging SOP to local hotel and rigging teams. This role will supervise the Rigging Coordinators and Sr. Rigging Coordinators, support rigging events as needed, provide site visit profiles as needed, vet rigging labor, support training and development, track revenue and profitability and provide regular business reviews to area stakeholders. The Area Mgr, Rigging will report to a Regional Rigging Manager.
Key Job Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Development
• Hire, train, and develop a team of professionals across the Rigging Services Division; prioritize, lead, and assign work based on team member strengths and roles.
• Maintain a positive employee relations environment for all local rigging team members and hotel Directors.
• In partnership with the Regional Rigging Manager, supervise, develop, and mentor Rigging Coordinators and Sr. Rigging Coordinators, Lead Riggers, and Riggers.
• Support local development training opportunities for staff, coordinate opportunities for technicians and riggers to attend Encore Rigging Training, and maintain adequate staffing levels.
• Assist in team member training, career development, and performance management.
• Ensure team members are equipped with required tools, processes, and procedures to create an effective and efficient organization.
Equipment Compliance
• Review compliance on all OSHA regulations and ANSI standards pertaining to rigging.
• Make recommendations and escalate compliance and safety needs to the Regional Rigging Manager and Director of Operations Rigging Services.
• Ensure compliance with all annual equipment certification procedures established by Encore.
• Provide recommendations to assist in the selection of rigging equipment to best meet the needs of our teams and clients.
• Assist in reviewing the accepted technical and safety standards within the industry and aid in its implementation.
Safety Compliance
• Complete field assessments regarding rigging safety compliance within assigned region.
• Assist Regional Rigging Manager with periodic site inspections of new and existing facilities and evaluation of safety of existing rigging points.
• Work with Regional Rigging Manager to recommend necessary improvements or modifications that will be escalated to the Regional Vice President of Operations and Director of Operations Rigging Services.
• Assist in review of load calculations provided by Rigging Coordinators for rigging events as needed.
• Utilize CAD software to assist Rigging Coordinators and production companies with analysis of weight distributions of suspended loads.
Company Support
• Represent Encore during major production site visits or other events as necessary.
• Manage multiple tasks/initiatives in a given time.
• Assist Director of Event Technology, Director of Sales, and Director of Operations in the creation of encore produced shows that ensure standard operating procedure compliance and timeline efficiency.
• Assist Directors of Event Technology, Sales, or Operations, in leading and overseeing cross-functional team activities from initial concept to final delivery.
Job Qualifications
• 6+ years of rigging industry experience, including at least 3 years as a Rigging Coordinator or equivalent.
• ETCP Arena or Theatre certification preferred.
• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of rigging equipment and CAD/Vectorworks software programs.
• Ability to lead other team members and work effectively with clients.
• Demonstrate excellent leadership and customer relationship management skills.

Work Environment
Office
Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Working times may include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines as defined by Encore based in an office environment and when traveling, on an individual venue or a representation of venues in that city or area.
Hotel
Work is performed in a hotel/convention center environment with moderate exposure to outdoor temperatures and to dirt, sand and/or dust. The working conditions will vary between moderately quiet to noisy volumes. Team members will use high-end audio-visual equipment and electrical components and will be exposed to heights via lifts and ladders. Team members may be asked to work in multiple hotel locations. Working times will include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines as defined by Encore based on an individual hotel or a representation of hotels in that city or area.
