Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:
Cyber Security Defense Ops – Threat 2: The Cyber Support Operations (CSO) Team is a division of the Cyber Investigations and Insider Threat department within the Cyber Defense organization within O&T Cyber Security. The CSO team directly engages talent and executive leadership on a weekly basis and as required during security events, an intern to this group will gain exposure to the impact of security controls and events on those groups. The major roadmap items are derived directly from the Cyber Long-Range Plan to increase the resiliency of our brand ambassadors and journalists in the Journalist Protection Program, enable and utilize Artificial Intelligence capabilities within the Cybersecurity group and protect the brand in general. Currently CSO is responsible for Digital Footprint Management, Social Media Security/Digital Risk Protection and Support, Negative Sentiment and Harassment and High-Risk Travel.
Cyber Security Engagement, Direct-to-Consumer: Our Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) portfolio is a powerhouse collection of consumer-first brands, supported by media industry leaders, Comcast, NBCUniversal and Sky. When you join our team, you'll work across our dynamic portfolio including Peacock, NOW, SkyShowtime, Showmax, Hayu, and Universal+, powering streaming across more than 70 countries globally. The DTC Cyber Information Security Officer team is responsible for executing and contributing to the NBCU Cyber Security strategy and engaging with key leaders within the Direct-to-Consumer streaming businesses. We are a fast-paced, goal-oriented team that works to identify gaps in security controls for the applications developed by our streaming business areas.
Cyber Security Defense Ops – Threat 1: The Detection team focuses on threat intelligence gathering, enrichment, correlation. The information gathered by intel is used to feed the detection engineering team, who are responsible for analyzing the log data, the intelligence, and building detection signatures for alerting. The hunting team proactively hunts through the environment and log data looking for abnormal, anomalous behavior that can be associated with actor techniques. The intern will support the Detection team and can work on threat intelligence, detection engineering, and threat hunting projects. A few of these projects will include developing intelligence requirements, enhancing threat hunting workflow and collaboration, developing emerging threat detection capabilities, and alert validation and testing to drive higher fidelity detections.
Cyber Security Engagement, Enterprise: The O&T Cyber ISO team oversees Cyber alignment and partnership for O&T as a horizontal organization. Within this Cyber ISO, team leads and groups support many areas including Enterprise Services (Workplace, Legal/Privacy, Finance/HR), Media Services (Infrastructure, Global Networking, Production/Content), Platform Development/Engineering, and Enterprise Product. We directly support Enterprise Product, Ad Sales, Data Analytics, and Consumer Data which has interests and stakeholders aligned across multiple O&T teams and Business teams. An intern working in this scope would have wide visibility across NBCU with many partners on large cross-functional projects supporting Unified Architecture strategy, Ad Sales One Platform, NBCUnified Identity Solutions, and Enterprise Data Mesh.
Cyber Security Engagement, Film & TV Production: The Film/TV/Production Information Security Office (ISO) group works as liaisons between Cyber/O&T and the business, and the intern will gain exposure across a broad range of technical and creative disciplines. We currently are involved in a production strategy initiative, reimagining how film and TV are made, leveraging secure technology workflows. The completion of this initiative will redefine the standard for production across NBCU Film/TV production and its assets. The intern will work within our team members to support a specific business group, working on compliance metrics, vendor reviews, vulnerability management and documenting business security applications.
Cyber Security Engagement, Operations & Technology: The O&T ISO group supports our business partners across the entirety of O&T to improve security posture across enterprise and ensure that new workflows and infrastructure are being set up securely. An intern on the Media Services team would be exposed to any major security initiatives being worked on and to primary projects we are supporting with our ET and GND business partners.
Cyber Security Engagement, HR/Finance/Legal/Physical Securities: Our team works across Human Resources, Finance, Legal, and Physical Securities and helps these business partners to stay engaged with our Cyber security services, programs, and technologies. An intern with our team will be able to learn cyber security-specific technologies, threat vectors, and best practices to secure our NBCU data. An intern will also have visibility on how these business groups operate across NBCU and within O&T. An intern with our team will help to engage with the business, track and help to remediate open security risks, report on our cyber metrics, and help facilitate security reviews for new tools/vendors.
Cyber Security Defense Ops – Threat 2.2: The DTC Fraud Defense team is dedicated to securing the customers of our streaming and direct-to-consumer platforms (i.e. Peacock, Showmax, Showtime). They work alongside Incident Response to secure fraud, piracy, and compromises of the product. An intern will get exposure into web applications, how to investigate an attack/fraud, and the incident response process. The intern will prioritize and triage security alerts impacting the DTC products, investigate security events to identify attack vectors and impact, and identify opportunities for streamlining processes and assist in detection development.
Cyber Security Engagement, Engineering Experience: Our team supports the security of the NBCU platform development/engineering experience and content supply organizations. This means that we facilitate secure development, planning, and operational support of the systems that NBCU uses to develop applications, create cloud architecture, and produce film and TV content. The intern will get to interface with the engineering teams at NBCU and assist in liaising between them and Cyber Security for various engagements, from analyzing proposed cloud architecture to helping find, report, and track vulnerabilities being closed in software and systems.
