The Martinez, CA. area HyCO organization has an opening for a Plant Engineer to support the 4 hydrogen plants located in the Martinez area. The Martinez HyCO organization consists of 4 separate plants. 3 located on site at the PBF refinery, and one located onsite at the nearby Marathon refinery. Each facility consists of a reformer, a steam system, a syngas purification system, and all necessary auxiliary equipment. The varying auxiliary equipment includes (air emission controls, stormwater systems, jacket water systems, water chemistry systems, exchanger trains, etc.) In addition, some of the sites have large gas compressors to supply Hydrogen product at varying pressures.
You will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and Projects on productivity and reliability initiatives to ensure the supply of our products.
Essential Functions:
Support for plant environmental, health, and safety programs, through strict alignment to management of change procedures, execution of project hazards reviews, and regular participation in site safety meetings and annual safety training.
Develop, write and complete eMOCs.
The plant engineer is responsible for ensuring that each plant’s process control systems are at peak performance and to help improve plant reliability.
Develop and support projects for the plants that aid in increased production and/or decreased costs. Work closely with maintenance, projects, controls, PPE and I&E teams to see projects to completion.
The plant engineer often assists in the resolution of long-term reliability and maintenance issues involving unusual corrosion, steam quality concerns, fouling of heat transfer surfaces, breakdown of insulation, and other chronic equipment and performance problems.
The plant engineer is a critical part of investigation and corrective action teams in cases of reliability events and plant trips.
The plant engineer may on occasion be called upon to attend customer facing meetings to discuss plant issues as requested.
Participate in and follow -up in action items from corporate and regulatory audits, reliability assessments and plant hazard assessments.
Qualifications / Requirements:
B.S. degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
3-5 years’ experience in supporting plant operations, maintenance, engineering and projects.
Desire to make a measurable positive impact to plant performance and AP’s profitability. Desire to acquire hands-on experience in a plant operating environment.
Ability to work in groups, interacting with plant operators, maintenance staff, and engineers.
Ability to balance competing priorities and ensure time-sensitive projects are completed punctually.
Be flexible with work hours during plant upsets and turnarounds.

In California, the expected pay range is $87,500 - $115,250 plus bonus. This is the pay range that we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
