Job Summary: As the Director of Supply Chain and Quality, you will be a key member of the leadership team. You will be responsible for managing and developing a talented team responsible for ensuring risk mitigation, continuity of supply, and product affordability for the worldwide Iron Dome systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for partnering with engineering and program management to support a rapidly growing business to ensure the delivery of Missile All-up-Rounds (AUR), major components, and parts delivery, and associated end items – on time, within cost, and of the highest quality.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
- Responsible and accountable for the strategy, planning, and execution of all direct and indirect material and services required to support the business.
- Develop and implement a strategy to ensure that critical supply chain and quality processes run effectively and achieve organizational goals and performance KPIs
- Develops the long-term supply chain strategy inclusive of specific actions to execute this strategy. This will include talent development, robust processes, lean initiatives and checks and balances to ensure systemic root cause and corrective actions are implemented across the business.
- Develop, train, retain an excellent team of supply chain professionals across the division through excellent leadership, team building, career opportunities and a culture of respect and belonging.
- Ownership of the supply chain through all processes in the business including strategy, investments, bids and proposals and through development, qualification, and execution of our programs.
- Takes ownership in leading the business and coordinates cross functionally to ensure that all supply chain commitments are met (quality material is provided on time and on cost), and that appropriate mitigation plans are developed and executed to address any programmatic risks related to suppliers.
- Develops and executes a major subcontract strategy and strategic make/buy decisions to support our strategy and growth.
- Executes a supplier relationship strategy leveraging the appropriate levels of leadership, aligned with R2S strategy, to escalate and help manage our suppliers effectively at all levels of the business.
- Support achievement R2S financial commitments through accuracy of bids, Estimates at Completion, EVMS requirements / budget attainment, operating forecasts, etc.
- Ensures that prior to program execution, all elements of the proposed program(s) plans have complete and accurate schedules, budgets, make/buy plans, and procurement and subcontracts strategies.
- Leads supply chain program execution and is accountable for resource planning, material cost, forecasting, schedule performance, risk/opportunity management, supplier performance, and supply chain issue resolution.
- Drive continuous improvements in supply chain and quality related processes
- Ensure compliance with the wide range of regulatory and other requirements and achieve supplier diversity requirements.
- Negotiate with suppliers and end manufacturers to obtain optimal contracts and pricing
- Perform industry benchmarking and supplier risk assessment. Build and communicate mitigation plans.
- Develop alternate sources for current/future product needs and technologies from a worldwide market
- Develop business relationships with a global supply chain
- Collaborate with stakeholders to keep up with customer/inventory demand
- Travel, up to 30% both domestic and international to participate in business, customer, and supplier engagements.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain/logistics or business or a related field and at least 14 years of prior relevant experience in supply chain and logistics operations within the aerospace and defense industry
- Progressive experience in roles such as Supply Chain Program Management (SCPM), Material Program Management (MPM) and Supply Chain Director with consistent direct interaction with customer in addition to significant quality, supplier quality or inventory control expertise.
- Minimum of 12-14 years of experience leading teams
- Strong leadership, communication, strategic thinking, change management, and analytical skills. Ability to influence without direct authority.
- Excellent team and organizational relationship-building with proven track record of building strong and deep supplier relationships
- Excellent negotiation skills with demonstrated success in negotiating and managing subcontracts
- Experience in inventory control and material management including prior experience serving as lead interface to USG DCMA and DCAA for audits in the field of inventory management
- Experience in logistics (inventory management, warehousing, transportation, packaging, and risk management) supporting achievement of cost efficiencies and on-time delivery of product to customers.
- Substantial and demonstrated experience in planning and scheduling
- Substantial demonstrated ERP/SRP background; working knowledge of IFS ERP system is a plus
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, can develop clear, concise and logically written business communications as well as deliver recommendations effectively to key stakeholders and demanding audiences
- Experience and expertise with executive and board level briefings
- PC proficiency required in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
- Experience with specific regulations and compliance practices governing defense contractor supply chain activities (e.g., FAR, DFARS, ITAR, other)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in supply chain/Logistics or MBA
- Direct experience interfacing with organized labor
- Demonstrated financial management and forecasting experience including AOP, sales forecast, monthly EV, quarterly EACs, proposals and IPDS Gate signature authority spanning the acquisition lifecycle
- Excellent business savvy to proactively identify and resolve problems quickly and efficiently, including cost/benefit analysis through processes.
- Experience working with international customers, especially Israeli customers, and export of U.S. goods and services.
- Experience working with or in Foreign Ownership, Control, & Influence (FOCI) mitigated companies
Work Location: Remote with frequent access to R2S/HQ in Arlington, VA.
Travel: 30% mainly within the United States with some overseas travel.
