Position Summary The Discovery Biotherapeutics group in Cambridge, Massachusetts is dedicated to the discovery and development of innovative biologics. Our primary mission is to design and implement advanced biological tools and processes that drive the forefront of therapeutic innovation. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies and expertise, we aim to pioneer new approaches that enable the creation of novel biologics, ultimately advancing the field of biotherapeutics and improving patient outcomes.
The BMS Machine Learning Research Group is seeking a passionate and creative graduate student or researcher for a paid 6-month co-op for Spring 2025. As a member of our Machine Learning Research team, you will explore novel ideas at the intersection of large language models (LLMs), generative modeling, and geometric deep learning, with applications to antibody design.
Key Responsibilities
- The candidate will gain practical knowledge of working with LLMs for proteins and geometric deep learning.
- The candidate is expected to produce a technical report suitable for a machine learning conference workshop (such as NeurIPS) describing the impact of incorporating surface information into the LLMs.
- Participate and contribute during scientific discussions.
- Analyze data and present project findings at the conclusion of the program.
Qualifications & Experience
- A minimum of a BS in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Currently enrolled in a graduate school program pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. degree.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent machine learning research.
- Candidate should have strong communication and presentation skills (written and verbal), and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Candidate must be eligible for employment in the United States, and available to work from January 6th, 2025, to June 20th, 2025.
- This role is located at our Cambridge, MA site, and requires onsite presence in a hybrid capacity.
