Job Description
NBC 5 & Telemundo 39 DFW is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Marketing Director to lead the creative marketing efforts of both brands with a focus on growing the Telemundo 39 Hispanic viewership. The ideal candidate will take a leading role in creating, planning, and executing local promotions and marketing projects to elevate both brands in the DFW market. This duopoly position will report to the VP, Brand and Strategic Marketing to develop and execute promotional strategy, and to plan a yearly event calendar that will support the station’s tent pole, news, and community initiatives.
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for developing strategies and plans to define brand on air and off channel. Working with field research, candidate must come with ideas to build awareness and drive consumption. Must have strong knowledge of outside media landscape. T
- Lead and manage the duopoly station’s promotional efforts that support the news and station objectives through partnerships, events, and marketing activations.
- Ensure that marketing initiatives are executed in a manner that supports and extends the brand.
- Create effective department workflow for activations and projects, working with promotions producer to ensure technical quality and creative output.
- Collaborate with Multiplatform Producer to produce original digital content for both NBC5 and T39 that lives on multiple platforms.
- Hold strong relationships and partner with outside organizations to elevate both brands in the DFW marketplace.
- Work with VP of Brand and Strategic Marketing to develop best practices and form a yearly calendar of events that will support the station’s 360 marketing efforts.
- Support VP of Brand and Strategic Marketing with daily promo strategy in placing spots on-air to achieve ratings goals.
- Work with, anticipate needs for, and share ideas with integrated sales production team and community affairs team
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a creative management role
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in marketing, advertising, or communications) or equivalent work in same field.
- Must understand Digital Marketing across established and emerging platforms.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bilingual – English and Spanish preferred.
- Demonstrated project management experience in local Television marketing and promotion is essential.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be able to think conceptually and oversee execution of creative in detail.
- Ability to lead a team to achieve the station objectives.
- Must understand and thrive in a Newsroom culture.
- Strong understanding of technology, shooting and editing equipment, software is required.
- Must have advanced understanding of Adobe Premiere and After Effects to be able to coach and guide editors and graphic designers.
- Adapts to change rapidly, handles multiple assignments well, functions well under pressure, and reprioritizes quickly without compromising quality.
- Successful candidate is highly organized and excels at planning and executing.
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
