We're the team behind Alphabot®, a new technology that's changing the way America shops. Our automated pickup and delivery systems use a combination of robotics and software to efficiently handle large volumes of online orders, streamlining operations for managers and enhancing the customer experience. We're seeking a Chief Software Architect to join us and drive the architectural vision for our multi-robot grocery fulfillment system.
In this highly visible role, you'll be the technical right hand to our Head of Software Engineering, bringing your expertise to a system that spans cloud planning, on-premises control, and human-machine interfaces. You'll be a key driver of architecting our long-term software strategy, collaborating with Walmart's broader fulfillment ecosystem to define interfaces and message flows that will shape the future of retail technology.
The ideal candidate:
May have held CTO or VP of Engineering positions at innovative startups, or has provided technical leadership and influence over teams of 100+ engineers
Has a track record of successful, large-scale system architecture design
Can thrive in a fast-paced, high-impact environment where your decisions shape the future of a Fortune 1 company
What you'll do:
Define and drive the software architecture for our next-generation fulfillment system
Collaborate with solution architects and research scientists to translate algorithms into scalable software designs
Interface with Walmart's Warehouse Management System and other fulfillment technologies
Guide cross-functional teams to implement your architectural vision
What you should have:
15+ years of software product development experience, with 5+ years in architectural roles
Deep expertise in high-performance control systems and cloud-based microservice architectures
Hands-on experience with Java and C++ in production environments
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to inspire technical teams
BS or higher in Computer Science or related field (advanced degree preferred)
Some experience preferred in:
Robotics and autonomous systems
Industrial automation and hardware interfaces (e.g., MODBUS, SECS/GEM)
Warehouse Control Systems and Warehouse Management Systems

The annual salary range for this position is $192,000.00-$384,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
