Title:
Mission Systems Engineer
Merlin has an opportunity for a Mission Systems Engineer in Springfield, VA to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) services focused on protection of space systems. Responsibilities include:
Oversee integration of mission protection functions/capabilities of production systems; analyzes integrated master schedules, and identifies operational needs, near-term, and long-term, in an operational setting.
Provide end-to-end system engineering for the entire life cycle of a program, assist in developing concepts of operations and system architectures; support readiness review process to promote new and upgraded capabilities.
Support development of requirements specifications and interface control documentation through RFC and technical specification reviews.
Help develop standards, utility tools, and procedures for use on projects including but not limited to risk, issue, opportunity, change and information management.
Analyze and provide alternatives and recommendations to multiple government customers, provide key information, possible risks and impacts and potential improvements to government managers and other contractors to improve efficiency and achieve operations excellence.
Participate in studies, represent government as required in forums that support streamlined delivery of new capabilities and standardization of integration efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Must be a US Citizen.
Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) or relevant field and nine years or more experience; Master’s Degree in STEM or relevant field and seven years or more relevant experience.
Knowledge of satellite constellations, spacecraft orbit, and ground station characteristics.
Program lifecycle experience from concept development and design to deployment and operational maintenance.
Experience with system architecture changes, systems analysis and design, requirements definition, interface, control documentation; verification and validation.
Familiarity with NRO missions, organizations, systems engineering processes.
Ability to work independently and with a team, operate effectively with contractor, SETA, FFRDC, and Government teammates.
Self-starter, proactively addresses customer requirements with no supervision; expert at defining solutions for broad, abstract topics. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deliverables.
Polished communicator (written/verbal); impeccable interpersonal skills and personal judgment.
Master at collaboration and coordination with multiple stakeholders -- consensus builder.
Desired Qualifications:
Real-time operations experience as a spacecraft operator or vehicle engineer.
Familiar with MBSE/Digital Engineering, AGILE development, cloud technologies.
Experience with Jira, Confluence.
