Manager, Project Controls

KBR is looking for a Manager, Project Controls, to be accountable for the performance of the project controls discipline or a sub-group within the project controls organization. You will manage the delivery of functional objectives by providing leadership and direction to team members. You will participate in the development of the execution strategy and the implementation of procedures for cost control, change management, project performance measurement, scheduling, and risk controls.
This position will be based out of KBR’s Newark, DE office with occasional trips to local client sites. Potential for periodic business travel. Work schedule is flexible with the potential for remote work opportunities, pending project assignments.
Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Lead the project cost controls, performance measurement, change management, risk management, and scheduling functions on projects.
Drive the effective execution of project control functions across a portfolio of capital projects.
The position will require providing direct project controls services as well as leading & developing mid-level & junior project controls personnel.
Evaluate project performance and recommend actions to proactively address negative project performance trends.
Ensure the implementation of KBR’s project controls procedures on major projects or a portfolio of client projects.
Evaluate project contractual terms and ensure that the project controls processes align with any project specific commercial requirements.
Interdisciplinary communications with project management, engineering, construction, and procurement personnel to align-on project procedures, tasks, and inputs related to the project controls function.
Review project cost, progress, and schedule reports prepared by others for completeness and accuracy.
Perform project controls readiness reviews during project initiation.
Perform quality audits of the on-going project controls processes and the deliverables produced by project controls personnel.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree, preferred within the Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration fields.
15+ years of EPC Project controls experience in the energy, chemicals, or manufacturing industries.
Thorough knowledge of the front-end loading process utilized for the early development of capital projects.
Familiarity with the engineering tasks performed and the deliverables produced during the front-end loading and detailed engineering phases of projects.
Proficient in the earned value process for measuring and reporting project performance trends through all stages of project execution.
Proficient in budget development, cost analysis, cost forecasting and variance reporting techniques.
Familiarity with project cost estimating.
Familiarity with the financial aspects of project performance reporting such as determining project revenue, cost, income, and margin.
Experienced with P6 scheduling techniques, schedule risk assessments, and conducting interactive planning sessions.
Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to communicate effectively within a project team, across the KBR organization, and with clients.
Preferred: Knowledge of the following PC’s concepts, processes, and software applications is beneficial.
Proficiency with the SAP PS cost system
Proficiency with the P6 Primavera Scheduling Software
Experience with project performance metrics & benchmarking.
Experience with advanced work packaging techniques and schedule integration.
Experience with the EcoSys Project Management System.
Experience with MS Power BI Data Analytics & Reporting Software
Experience with implementing project controls on process unit turnarounds and construction projects.
