HQS Facilities Engineer
KBR is in search of a skilled Site Facilities Engineer to lead overall operations, maintenance, and performance of our government customer’s sites. You will manage a team of around 60 specialists, focusing on operational effectiveness, maintenance, safety, and environmental compliance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, analytical acumen, an eye for detail, and a proven ability to make decisions and adhere to strict deadlines.
This is a 24x7 operation which requires provision of on-call support. Your role transcends conventional limits, placing a premium on the solid availability of essential systems. It's imperative that these systems remain operational without interruption. Your vigilant oversight and proactive maintenance strategies are the cornerstones of our commitment to delivering stellar customer service.
This role is based in the Washington, DC Metro Area (WMA), specifically the Chantilly, VA area. Travel is estimated at about 10% for this position.
What You’ll Do
In the role of HQS Facilities Engineer, your duties will include:
Direct the facilities operations and maintenance at each site including but not limited to: engineering, central plant, fire protection/life safety, security, telecommunications, conference center, cafeteria, O&M, ground services, construction renovations, and custodial.
Provide technical support to site operations.
Interpret and implement maintenance policy and procedures.
Formulating and enforcing operational and maintenance standards that support company objectives, contractual requirements and comply with regulatory and environmental standards.
Hiring, training, and leading a competent workforce to be versatile and technically savvy.
Orchestrating activities to align with the overarching contract requirements and to ensure smooth site operations.
Guaranteeing the continuity of critical infrastructure operations, with a commitment to reliability for around-the-clock mission support.
Implementing work processes and leveraging data analysis to assist clients with achieving reliable equipment performance at cost-effective rates.
Drafting comprehensive reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
Communicating effectively with diverse teams, responding to questions, and solving a range of operational issues.
Applying corporate standards diligently and upholding strict adherence to environmental, health & safety, and regulatory requirements.
Keeping a close watch on contractual obligations and staying informed of any regulatory changes that impact facility operations.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required
A minimum of 10 years of experience supporting projects of similar scope, size and complexity, with 5 of the 10 years having focus on mechanical or electrical engineering.
Professional certification/registration.
Experience working in 24x7x365 mission critical environments where continuous availability is essential and of the highest priority.
Ability to read construction design and equipment drawings.
Knowledge of process improvement models (e.g LEAN/Six Sigma, ISO 9000)
Experience in operations management, construction/renovation projects.
Experience planning and implementing large-scale facility and logistics projects.
Experience integrating project schedules.
Experience/familiarity with Power Plant design/high voltage system operations.
Proficient knowledge and experience in the use of project management concepts to manage items including, but not limited to project schedule, scope, cost, risk, and deliverables and related metrics.
Knowledge in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) concepts of operation, and general electrical generation procedures.
Demonstrated supervisory experience with excellent organizational and leadership capabilities.
Knowledge of U.S. government exercise or crisis management communities and experience planning, coordinating, and executing support to special events.
Familiarity with 24/7 operational environment.
Clearance: Possess an active TS/SCI with adjudicated CI polygraph.
