Overview
The Senior Sales Manager brings to bear their sales expertise in Business Travel and Group Sales within the local market for hotels. This individual must be organized, detail oriented and able to identify, book and implement a profitable outcome. Success will be identified in achieving the set quarterly revenue expectations and individual goals for Business Travel and a Group Sales Market, clearly communicating with leaders and other departments within the hotel, and being proactive with work efforts.
Manage accounts to achieve guest satisfaction and to solicit past and new business to ensure all revenue goals are achieved or exceeded. Responsible for soliciting new group sales accounts, entertaining, and maintaining relationships with existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals in rooms, food, beverage, and room rental.

Responsibilities
- General understanding of both monthly forecasting and annual budget process within a hotel.
- Achieve Business Travel Transient Sales Goals by soliciting new and existing accounts in the market through prospecting, client entertainment, market research and brand presentations
- Produce innovative ideas to gain exposure to the local market
- Host clients for site tours and familiarization trips
- Achieve a set quarterly Group Sales Goal through prospecting, proposals and site tours.
- Optimize top line revenue for the hotel through identifying areas we can gain on rate or upsell through banquet revenue.
- Actively participate in the Daily Business Review Process with DOS to generate the best revenue for the hotel.
- Prepare information for, meet with and entertain clients as deemed appropriate by potential business from designated accounts
- Respond to all inquiries in a timely and professional manner and generate concise proposals per inquiry.
- Clear and concise Proposal and Contract Generation
- Review reporting as needed to identify the best business for the time of year
- Be in the know on market trends and happenings with the competition
- Attend trade shows and market events as assigned
- Actively participate in industry organizations (NACE, MPI, GBTA)
- Comply with department attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis with occasional weekend support within the hotel
- Perform any other job related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of sales techniques with strong closing and negotiation skills
- 3+ years’ experience in hotel/hospitality management with specific knowledge of Business Travel Transient and Group Sales.
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Comfortable with hotel site inspections and solicitation calls
- Must possess a high level of computer skills including but not limited to the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Marriott Sales Systems CI/TY preferred.
- Knowledge of hotel operations including marketing plans, security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, preparation of business plans, repairs, budget, forecasting, quality assurance programs, hospitality law and long-range planning.
- Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt communication styles to suite different audiences such as supervisors, coworkers, general public and clients.
