Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc., is hiring an MTS Systems Design Engineer to Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations. Build out of band management firmware solutions for next generation of GPU products. Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software for enhancements and new semiconductor products. Create automated test plans built using the infrastructure to perform various tests including sanity tests, black box tests, functional tests and regression tests from DUT specifications. Reproduce defects and validate defect fixes found during testing, development, or in production code. Develop software and tools in support of electronic design, infrastructure and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, and/or databases. Firmware development including feature addition, debugging and test infrastructure development. Determine hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Integrate automated testing in CI/CD environment Exercise independent judgment to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results with little to no supervision. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD systems and products.

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Three (3) years of experience in job offered or closely related engineering role.
Alternate combination of education and experience: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and Five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or closely related engineering role.
Specific skills required: The following skills are required:
For either combination of education and experience, position requires three (3) years of experience in the following:
- Firmware and test development for embedded systems;
- Multi-threaded embedded software development;
- Embedded driver development and low-level device drivers;
- Software Programming and scripting using C, C++, or Python;
- Linux and Windows internals;
- Software debugging (macOS, Linux, or Unix); and
- Git.
