Program Summary
KBR supports the operational needs of U.S. armed forces at Morón Air Base in Spain and several bases in Turkey. Our services ensure smooth operations, allowing Air Force and government personnel to focus on their missions. We provide program management, civil engineering, morale, welfare, and recreation support, among other essential services. Awarded by the Air Force Installation Contracting Center, our contract spans a five-year base period with three one-year options, reflecting our commitment to excellence and operational support.
Job Summary
We are currently seeking a qualified technician to join our team, with a specific focus on expertise in Carpentry and construction systems. The candidate will be operating wood cutting shop equipment and will be responsible for performing maintenance, repair, alteration, and construction on all basic wood structure: timbers, trussed joints, planking, walls, ceilings, floors, roofs, porches, stairs, doors, windows, platforms, docks and fences.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Builds packing crates according to measurement of goods to be shipped.
- Repairs or manufactures structural components such as doors, windows, partitions, frame works, siding, roofing, flooring, trusses, window, and door screening. Maintains, repairs, and installs security hardware such as emergency door openers, hydraulic door closers and locks. Provide basic hardware and trim items, install door closing and locking devices, duplicate keys, screen windows, and lay asphalt, tile and linoleum floor coverings.
- Keeps tools and wood working machines in proper operating condition.
- Reports suspected abuse of facilities and equipment.
- Prioritize the safety of oneself and the team while executing tasks. Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries. Ensure compliance with safety regulations. Proactively identify potential safety hazards and take corrective measures to mitigate risks.
- Maintain the outdoor areas of the base, including mowing lawns, trimming bushes, planting flowers, and ensuring proper drainage.
- Performing routine repairs and upkeep tasks such as painting, patching walls, replacing light fixtures, and fixing basic plumbing or basic electrical issues.
- Cleaning and janitorial work: Keeping buildings and facilities clean and sanitary by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash, washing carpets, disinfecting surfaces, cleaning the toilets, water dispensers.
- General labor support: Assisting skilled tradespeople such as electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and carpenters by carrying materials, fetching tools, and performing other tasks as needed.
- Operating machinery such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and landscaping equipment for tasks like moving materials, lifting heavy objects, and performing outdoor maintenance.
- Demolition and construction support: Assisting with demolition projects, clearing debris, and preparing sites for new construction or renovations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies. Attend training sessions or workshops to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.
*** Duties and responsibilities may evolve, and change based on the needs of the project and the organization. At Izmir Site, different departments experience periods of high workload at different times. While some units are very busy, others may go through quieter periods. During such times, to efficiently utilize our workforce and maintain workplace motivation and team spirit, units that are going through quiet periods, supports units with heavy workloads. The personnel to be hired in this position may work in different tasks and departments when the workload in their workshop is light or for the urgent needs in other units.
Basic Qualifications
- Must be a Turkish citizen.
- Capable to speak, read and understand the English Language Level 1.
- Must have a valid Turkish B Class license to operate vehicles and equipment.
- Technical High School graduate for Carpentry
- For Male Candidates, Fulfilled Turkish Military obligation is required.
- Forklift Operator License
Preferred Qualifications
- Other technical certifications such as, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Welding, Appliance repair etc.
- 3 + years of experience on carpentry work and use of wood cutting machines.
All positions require the applicant to obtain and pass a medical physical that is certified by a doctor.
All positions require a current and favorable Turkish Security background check.
