The role
Coordinates activities related to Environment, Occupational Health and Safety, aiming to ensure conditions that eliminate or minimize the risks of occupational accidents, observing compliance with all relevant legislation for the sites in Brazil, Argentina and Mexico.
What you’ll do:
- Maintain and improve the Environmental, Health and Safety management system for the Brazil operations.
- Manage and keep up to date all Operational and Business Licenses such as Federal / Civil / Environment / CETESB and any other license required by the company for compliance purposes; representing the company before government bodies and agencies, as well as, internal and external customers, regarding EHS matters.
- Manage EHS programs like CIPA, SIPAT, Fire & Emergency Brigade, Waste Management and Environmental Licenses; including trainings; follow-up at ordinary and extraordinary meetings and their programs, studying their observations and propositions, aiming at adopting corrective and preventive solutions for occupational accidents.
- Guide the company regarding Safety and Health at Work; use the legal framework, promote meetings with contractors, demand compliance with contractual clauses related to Safety and Health and advise purchases in negotiations.
- Drive safety awareness and culture - integrate safety into all levels of the Brazil / Argentina / Mex sites; responsible for the integration with all employees, explaining about Quality, ISO and PPRA PCMSO / EHS. Prepare training, admission and routine work safety programs, including awareness raising programs and disclosure of safety rules and procedures, with a view to developing a preventive attitude towards employees regarding work safety.
- In case of working accidents, drive the investigation process to determine root cause and corrective actions, record the occurrence in a proper way, be in contact and do follow up with the medical services of the Institution for the necessary care to the injured and issue CAT (Work Accident Notice).
- Participate in Expertise and Inspections: Promote workplace inspections to identify hazardous conditions and take appropriate action, as well as, indicate and inspect fire protection equipment, with a view to reduce risks to the safety and physical integrity of the workers.
- Manage all process PPRA, PCMSO, LTCAT, PPP, E-Social and reports of electrical installations, lightning protection system report and PPP filing. Work closely with HR and other areas of the site as needed.
- Perform integrations with company's customers to release the access of the technicians into those companies and meet the requested deadline.
- Ensure compliance with the global requirements related to the EHS management system, such as: Non-Conformance and Incident reports management, management of the applicable legal requirements matrices, close and direct relationship with areas and departments of interest within the company (Technical Service and Sales, Supply Chain, HR, Compliance, etc.).
- Weekly follow-up reports with EHS issues to the leadership teams for Americas Region’s manager.
- Supervision of the Work Plan and close support for the activities performed by the EHS Champions in Latin America.
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial/Occupational Safety, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or closely related field.
- 5+ years of experience in an EH&S role.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation in all areas.
- Able to perform and lead a variety of tasks, planned and unplanned, with an exceptionally high level of quality to meet target dates.
- interpersonal & communication skills, ability to effectively deal with other people, especially other company personnel, to enlist needed cooperation in implementing regulatory requirements.
- Ability to deal with regulatory agencies, consultants, and other contractor personnel.
- Fluent English and Spanish.
