Dover Corporation is seeking an individual to join our Global Sourcing team to support strategic sourcing of Direct categories: Build-to-Print components such as Castings, Forgings and Machined Components as well as Plastics and Injection Molded parts. This is an exciting leadership role with global scope. This role works with global operating companies both in the US and across the globe. Additionally, this person will be working alongside our regional global sourcing teams in India, China, Eastern Europe, Europe and Mexico in effort to support Dover business units by developing and executing sourcing strategies in a fast-paced entrepreneurial organization.
The project manager will be tasked with supporting the comprehensive strategy for these categories. Elements of this strategy include supplier management and development, risk mitigation, and leveraging these relations to bring the highest value for spend to these categories purchased by Dover OpCo’s. Other strategic activities include global sourcing efforts such as supply base optimization, make or buy decisions, new product development, new Dover business acquisitions support, and global and regional expansion.
Reporting to the Director of Global Sourcing, this position will interact with various OpCo supply chain teams, purchasing and sourcing managers and directors. Moreover, this position will be working with various US and global suppliers developing, maintaining and growing relationships. Ideal candidates will have the following experience and skills:
- Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 3-5 years work experience in the manufacturing industry.
- Demonstrate ability to apply an organized, disciplined approach to managing technical product sourcing to maximize value brought to the fast paced decentralized environment.
- Knowledge of technical drawings and specifications, including required tolerances, calculated fits, and manufacturing capability.
- Working knowledge of supply chain principals (e.g., Design, Plan, Buy, Make, etc…), planning (e.g., material, production, demand), and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Contract negotiation experience to establish a framework for the relationship between supplier and OpCo on an operational level with strategic activities taking place on an executive level.
- Able to process a wide variety of information and data to create a cogent communication to drive understanding and actions for multiple functional in both Dover and OpCos.
- Identify and drive deployment of cost savings, structuring cost reduction programs using value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) techniques, and other tool sets to reduce supply chain complexities and waste.
- Strong spreadsheet skills (e.g., pivot tables, formulas, data visualization) for analytics of data in support of sourcing decision making, pricing reviews, and process tracking reports
- Ideal candidates will have a background in manufacturing processes and the supply chain in a number of these categories:
- Build-to-print components: Components or parts which are developed and designed by internal engineering teams which are contracted and purchased from outside suppliers.
- Components and Categories of spend include:
- Resins & Plastics: understanding of different material grades for industrial and biopharma industry as well as understanding the resin manufacturers / distributors network and molders supply chain complexity
- Casting & Machining: conceptual understanding of guiding principles for aluminum die castings, sand castings, permanent mold, casting tolerances and porosity as well as different high tolerance machining operations such as: gear manufacturing, turning, milling, grinding, ECM/EDM, etc..
- Fabrications: understanding of various processes and materials which are used to produce components. Such as sheet metal parts, stampings, weldments, etc.
Travel
- Typically travel 20% of the time, primarily domestically for business and supplier visits and meetings. International travel may be required specific to unique sourcing projects and business needs.
Education
- Required: BS Business, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, or related.
