SUMMARY
The Production Planner is responsible for creating and maintaining a valid production schedule by effectively balancing supply and demand for product to fulfill all customer requirements and support the plan.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintains a valid production schedule that is aligned with production capacity planning and supply availability.
- Reviews production schedules and material receipts to optimize utilization and efficiency of all resources.
- Identify and resolve conflicts with respect to material and capacity availability and order-promising integrity. Manage communications/escalations when demand cannot be met and recommend alternatives on how the requested demand could be satisfied.
- Work closely with the manufacturing and engineering leader(s) to ensure all capacity and material constraints are managed to maximize the utilization of manufacturing resources as cost-effectively as possible.
- Manages communication of all production commitments to the stakeholders within the sales, customer service, logistics and engineering groups. Maintains all metrics for areas of responsibility.
- Maintains scheduled and manufactured item attributes, such as lead times, stocking levels and GOP rules.
- Manages WIP variances at the work order level and works with manufacturing, production, and inventory to ensure timely and accurate work management.
- Review and coordinate all customer change order requests, including outside warehouses and orders shipping from overseas facilities.
- Provides support to business projects as needed.
TALENTS and/or EXPERIENCE
- Knowledge of manufacturing operations, scheduling and purchasing procedures, MRP systems and their processes, and supply chain best practices.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgement with minimal supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- 2+ years of supply chain experience or manufacturing experience in an MRP environment.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and REGISTRATIONS
- A.S. degree or higher in business, management, or supply chain required. Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
- APICS certification or ongoing education preferred.
