Position Summary
The Lead Director, Learning Technology ( Workday ) will lead the strategic planning and execution of technology solutions that support and enhance the Learning and Development (HR) function. This role requires a visionary leader with a deep understanding of HR technologies, learning architecture, and integration with other business applications. The thought leader should be able to partner with our business counterparts, innovate and support a skill-based organization.
The Director will work closely with HR leaders, IT teams, and external partners to:
- Deliver innovative, scalable, and secure learning technology solutions that drive business value.
- Control resources to deliver IT solutions (integrated process, applications, data and technology) to business problems in alignment with the enterprise architecture direction and standards.
- Develop strategy for a learning experience platform that supports different modes of learning and development.
- Support business to develop a designed, systematic interface that guides learners through their learning activities for all multifaceted curricula, like new hire programs.
- A metaverse based virtual environment that brings participants together in a dynamic setting.
- Realistic call center scenarios allowing participants to practice calls and receive AI generated feedback and instruction.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive learning technology strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Provide visionary leadership to define the future state of learning technology architecture.
- Collaborate with L&D leadership to understand and prioritize business needs and translate them into technology solutions.
Technology Solutions
- Design and maintain the learning technology architecture, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles and standards.
- Oversee the integration of learning systems with HCM systems like Workday / Oracle.
- Proficiency using SABA cloud, Precipio, Virbela, Intrepid, Symtrain etc.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with L&D leaders, IT peers, and business stakeholders.
- Communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner to non-technical audiences.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on learning technology issues and opportunities.
Governance and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including data privacy and security requirements.
- Establish and enforce governance policies and procedures for learning technology.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure the integrity and security of learning systems.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
- Developing strategies for use of an integrated learning experience platform.
- Performing technical planning, solution development, and modification of specifications to ensure architectural integrity of the company's IT learning structures.
- Directing processes to ensure learning platforms have company-standard Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) practices, crisis management, and incident response, conducting exercises including validations and changes.
- Staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation.
- Promoting a culture of continuous improvement by leveraging best practices and lessons learned.
- Driving the adoption of new technologies and processes that enhance learning operations and employee experience to create a skill-based organization.
- Collaborating cross-functionally in building software applications by using relevant development languages and applying knowledge of systems, services, and tools appropriate for the business area.
- Implementation of practice system with simulation-based replication of two-way call experience and replication of back-end system.
You will be working in a hybrid role (3 days a week onsite) in one of the CVS Health or Aetna offices in Cumberland, RI; Scottsdale, AZ; Florham Park, NJ; Richardson, TX; Irving, TX or Hartford, CT.
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years’ experience in learning technology and leadership roles.
- 5+ years’ experience leading learning technology initiatives (SABA cloud, Precipio, Virbela, Intrepid, Symtrain, etc).
- 5+ years’ experience successfully implementing and integrating HR technologies, such as HCM, ATS, LMS, and payroll systems.
- 3+ years’ experience with HR technology platforms such as Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
- Adept at execution and delivery (planning, delivering, and supporting)

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required
- Master’s degree preferred
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$100,000.00 - $231,540.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
