About ATDM
ATDM is a federally funded program training adults in the skills needed to complete the skills gap in submarine building and repair. Those skills include Additive Manufacturing, Welding, CNC Machining, Quality Control Inspection, and Nondestructive Testing.
What will you do?
The Nondestructive Testing Lab Technician will support the NDT instructors for the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing program, and is responsible for supporting students in the lab, inventory of material, lab set-up and tear-down, monitoring consumables, and providing overall support to the ATDM program. This position will require a driven individual to assist with lab preparation for an accelerated, short-term training program. Some travel may be required.
Curriculum includes NDT methods Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) and Visual & Optical Testing (VT).
Shift Details
ATDM Instructors and Technicians are assigned shifts based on training needs. Shift assignments are based on business needs at the time of hiring, performance, and tenure. These positions require the flexibility to work all shifts as the program needs change. Your salary will include a shift differential based on the class times you are assigned to instruct. First shift classes start at 7:00 a.m. Second shift classes start at 3:00 p.m. Third shift classes start at 11:00 p.m.

Preferred Qualifications
- NAVSEA equivalence per T9074-AS-GIB-010/27
- Experience training and/or teaching in NDT or a related field
- Experience in submarine industrial base
- Familiarity with NAVSEA Technical Publications as they relate to the current requirements of the defense industrial base
- Experience with NDT of welds.

Why is the position open?
Due to the growth of our campus and the success in our many programs, we’re adding more Instructors and Technicians to our team. To the success of our Manufacturing Advancement team in executing the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM) Program in partnership with the Department of the Navy, this is a new position that is funded by a federal contract. The position is funded through June 2025. IALR will continue to request funding beyond 2025.
