We have an opportunity to join our Component Engineering Team within the Sustainment Group, in supporting the component selection for new programmes, production and aftermarket support. As a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, you would join our team in Cheltenham, solving problems with components used from design to aftermarket.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Identify and work closely with the Hardware Engineering development teams to assist with the selection of electronic components from preferred strategic sources.
- Support the programs on topics such as uprating, qualification, anti-counterfeit, COTS assemblies, atmospheric radiation, obsolescence, long term storage, and lead-free.
- Approve new components for usage in System applications in the Defence and Aerospace Industry.
- Provide support across commodities as the component expert, focusing on Complex parts.
- Effectively provide technical recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data.
- Research, review and obtain technical documentation for components.
- Provide technical support to our Supply Chain with obsolescence issues, recommendation of alternative parts and end of life resolutions.
- Review product change notices from component manufacturer’s and liaise with design and Sustainment Teams to minimize the impact to the business.
- Working effectively with multiple departments throughout the business will be key to your success and you will build relationships with colleagues across Supply Chain and Quality to act as a link between them and the engineering community.
- Provide technical guidance to other Component Engineers
- Support the local team technical proficiency and growth.
- Create and maintain electronic and electromechanical components records in Company databases.
Required Qualifications
- You will be qualified to HNC or above in an electronic discipline or have an equivalent relevant level of experience and knowledge of components.
- Experience managing a component database.
- Understanding of electronics components with a knowledge of electronic component management standards
- Good working knowledge in component-level electronic manufacturing techniques of complex electronic parts
- Ability to deal with varied multiple project assignments simultaneously.
- Able to work with suppliers to ensure technical requirements are met.
- Familiarity with electronic design, test and analysis tools and systems.
