Join an entrepreneurial team of professionals who provide critical support to three Specialty underwriting business units (Healthcare, Financial Lines and Affinity Programs) focusing on data-driven analytics, business intelligence and strategy. Functions of this role include utilizing analytical and problem solving skills to create business efficiencies and improve performance, building moderately complex dashboards, reports and datasets for various stakeholders, leading cross-functional initiatives in support of key business priorities, and developing strategic recommendations. A successful candidate will have strong communication, presentation and analytical skills, with excellent business acumen and the ability to manage competing priorities in order to ensure delivery of high-quality outputs and data-driven recommendations.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
Works with various enterprise data sources to design moderately complex dashboards and datasets using data visualization tools for the purpose of quantifying the performance of the business area, tracking key metrics, and evaluating operational needs
Prepares ad-hoc and recurring reports, and makes recommendations to management. Interprets data and identifies relevant analyses to determine actionable outcomes for a business area (incl. responding to data requests from management, identifying the right source of data, pulling the data query, conducting analysis and presenting results to senior management)
In collaboration with management, maintains and enhances (as needed) enterprise business forecast model used by senior leadership, as well as other underwriting tools
Facilitates execution of various strategic initiatives for underwriting teams (incl. building project plans, tracking execution, maintaining communication with project team, ensuring achievement of project goals)
Leads smaller scale projects to determine and develop data-driven strategies to maximize performance and identify process improvements, involving analysis of data sets and modeling
Acts as a technical resource and regularly identifies opportunities to leverage new IT solutions in support of analytics and reporting objectives
Responds to and fulfills ad-hoc strategic requests (e.g., data pulls, report creation, business case and slide deck preparation, etc.) in support of underwriting teams and leadership needs
Collaborates with business partners in Distribution, Legal, Risk Control, Actuarial, Claims, IT, Operations and Compliance

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software systems. Advanced Excel skills are required.
Solid knowledge of Power BI and Tableau is required. Familiarity with insurance company IT and data infrastructure is strongly preferred.
Prior experience with P&C insurance industry is preferred.
Solid knowledge of core functions of an insurance company, general insurance, financial and economic concepts.
Solid project management skills and strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage work deliverables/projects effectively.
Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem solving skills with ability to exercise independent judgment and make critical business decisions based on data analyses and insights.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA’s internal business partners.
Ability to work independently, as well as in a team, manage time and resources to accomplish multiple tasks, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
Ability to creatively and effectively manage ambiguous and challenging problems, leading through change and taking appropriate level of risk.
Ability to leverage enterprise applications for reporting and process improvement to meet business objectives.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, or related field.
Typically a minimum of seven years of related work experience

In District of Columbia,California, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, New York and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is $71,000 to $133,000 annually. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
