Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the GM Heritage Center in Grand Blanc and GM Archive in Flint, Michigan three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
GM’s Heritage Operations are comprised of the Durant-Dort Carriage Company Factory One, the GM Heritage Center and the GM Archive, located at the Heritage Center. Both facilities, located in Flint and Grand Blanc, Michigan, respectively, offer inclusive visitor experiences for a variety of audiences.
The Heritage Exhibits Lead is responsible for managing the overall display and interpretation of artifacts from GM’s extensive collection of products to communicate the depth and breadth of GM’s rich history in business and industry. GM’s Heritage Collection consists of more than 700 antique, historic, and specialty vehicles; various production and experimental engines; and non-automotive products such as kitchen appliances, radios, and medical equipment. Exhibits will include a mix of static, rotating, and interactive displays that leverage the rich collections GM maintains to tell engaging and inspiring stories of our current and historical brands, the people and the places that have made General Motors great.
In developing exhibits, the Heritage Collections and Exhibits Lead will work closely with the Heritage Vehicle Collection Lead, who has direct responsibility for the care and movement of vehicles, the Heritage Archive and Digital Asset Management Lead, who manages historic documents and visual media collections, and the Heritage Event Venue and Business Development Lead, who oversees the use of the venues.
While the primary exhibit space continues to be renovated, this leader will familiarize themselves with the contents of the collections, work collaboratively to develop concepts and plans for implementation of inclusive exhibits, and interface with the project architects to ensure appropriate infrastructure is comprehended in the building design.
