Boeing Global Services is seeking a Field Service Representative ASSOCIATE to support the Operations and Sustainment (O&S) Integrated Product Team (IPT) on the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program and is located at Vandenberg SFB, CA
The GMD weapon system is operationally capable 24/7 to defend the U.S. homeland against long-range ballistic missile attacks.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- As part of the Operations and Sustainment team, this position is central to the safe, efficient and effective real-time maintenance required to keep all assets ready to protect the country.
- Under the guidance of maintenance engineers and senior Field Service Representatives (FSR) this position will: Assist in the performance of preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical and software based GMD systems. Investigate technical documents, schematics and drawings in support of root cause analysis and corrective action. Support the development and improvement of testing and maintenance procedures. Act as technical subject matter expert in the area of system knowledge and fault analysis.
- This position complements a dynamic team of technicians, engineers and planning professionals in the execution of a variety of tasks that serve the needs of the warfighter with timely and efficient action.
- Acts as liaison between program engineering and maintenance technicians
- Trouble shoot electrical, mechanical and software based systems, including PLCs, and author documents to direct repair activities.
- Coordinate with maintenance engineers to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
- Mentoring, coaching and training other employees to improve the maintenance culture
- Work with multiple groups inside the company including Safety, Quality, Scheduling, and Operations.
- Some travel may be required to Huntsville, Alabama or Vandenberg AFB, CA to support testing, training, and special projects. 10% travel is estimated.
- After-hours and weekend support may be required to support program needs
- This position requires working in proximity of a weapon system for which inherent risks are present.
- Additionally, this position requires working outdoors at times for which exposure to arctic climates are required.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 1 year experience troubleshooting electrical systems
- Minimum 1 year experience with mechanical troubleshooting, disassembly and repair
- Experience troubleshooting processes for software application
- Minimum 1 year experience authoring technical documents or reports
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Engineering or computer science degree preferred
- Boeing Board certified Test Conductor or Task Lead
- CompTIA Security+ certification (ability to obtain is required post-start)
- Experience with test processes and protocol.
TYPICAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering or computer science and work experience performing engineering job duties

This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
