The Patient Transporter assists the Manager of Patient Transportation in the daily operation of the patient transport department.

Basic Qualifications: • Must be 18 years of age or older
• No experience required and on the job training provided
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required
Preferred Qualifications: • Customer service experience
• 1 year of similar work experience
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility is to assist the Patient Transportation Department Customers in receiving timely service.
- Assists Patient Transporters to achieve desired results.
- Trains Patient Transporters in proper procedures related to job tasks.
- Responds to all requests from customers with a can do attitude. Follows up on requests with a sense of urgency.
- Is knowledgeable of and uses proper body mechanics to transfer patients out of and into beds, carts and wheelchairs.
- Assists lifts and positions patients as needed.
- Communicates with the dispatch desk providing proper and necessary information to facilitate patient transports.
- Ensures that nursing personnel are notified when a patient leaves and returns to the patient care unit. Also notifies the appropriate personnel in ancillary departments when patients arrive or leave the department.
- Completes all patient transport records and logs at nursing units and ancillary departments providing accurate information.
- Treats all patient information as confidential and follows the facility HIPPA policy.
- Dispatches personnel to transport patients to and from various areas of the hospital as required.
- Attends all required in-service training sessions designated by the facility and or department.
- Understands and exemplifies the philosophies and values of ABM Healthcare Support Services.
- Able to use a personal computer in a Windows environment.
- Familiar with various transport equipment and the safe operation of same.
- Utilizes proper lifting techniques when transferring or moving patients.
- Able to train and orient new associates into the department.
- Able to work in a team environment interacting with a variety of departments.
- Possesses excellent customer service skills.
- Able to establish priorities and work independently with little supervision.
- Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills treating others with respect.

• Clean and maintain buildings/facilities
• Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
• Notify Manager concerning the need for minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems
• Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with clients, co-workers, shift coordinators, supervisors, managers, etc.
• Comply with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures established by the Company, Clients, and regulatory authorities
• Clean and dust furniture, fixtures, floors, ceilings, walls, machines, and equipment
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas, either manually or by using hand trucks
• Clean interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees
• Wash and replace blinds
• Gather and empty trash
• Sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow or perform other incidental seasonal tasks
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms
