We are looking for a talented Health, Safety, and Environment Leader-Moderate Complexity to join our team specializing in Health & Safety for our corporate office in Maxton, NC.

Training and Development: By leading an effective support model through training and skills development, you’ll ensure that all employees are well-equipped to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
Regulatory Compliance: Interfacing with external regulatory bodies and ensuring adherence to Cummins’ internal requirements will keep the site compliant with all relevant regulations and standards.
Performance Improvement: Using a risk-based and data-driven approach, you’ll drive improvements in health, safety, and environmental performance metrics, ensuring continual enhancement.
Leadership and Development: Coaching and developing direct reports and cross-functional teams will not only resolve incidents and non-compliances but also drive continual improvement and prepare the team for future challenges.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
College, university, or equivalent degree in Occupational Health, Safety or Environmental required.
Professional certification in HSE-related field preferred.
Significant relevant experience required, including management of health, safety and/or environmental ISO Standards required. 5-7 years of experience, 1-2 years management experience.
Additional Detail:
Responsibilities - Essential functions :
Ensure site compliance with all relevant environmental and safety related federal and state laws and local ordinances pertaining to safety and environment. Coordinates all training activities for the plant.
Coordinates and/or delivers all EHS training activities for the plant.
Serve as the Environmental Representative (ER) for the Environmental Management system (EMS).
Develops and implements effective programs for protecting site environment to include but not limited to air, water, soil, natural resources, and property.
Develops and implements effective programs for maintaining and enhancing a safe work environment.
Conducts environmental and chemical sampling as required.
Leads environmental and safety teams and facilitates their activities.
Stays abreast of current (EPA, OSHA) and emerging laws, regulations and trends in environment and safety. Develops, conducts and coordinates the facility annual training plan.
Facilitates effective training classes and programs for the plant. Supports Regional Worker’s Compensation Administration efforts.
Supports Regional Worker’s Compensation Administration efforts.
Work closely with Meritor Headquarters to ensure proper programs are in effect to meet all OSHA requirements.
Plans, develops, coordinates, obtains approval, disseminates and implements programs to include but not limited to Supervisory training of safety and environmental related programs.
Fork truck training and license program.
Emergency Response Team training. Emergency Medical Technician. Safety Committee. Investigation of all accidents. Communication of safety performance. Disability management-return to work programs. Ensure first aid management through first aid and follow up to injuries, OSHA record keeping medical records, administering works compensation and pre-employment physical examinations.
Implement and maintain Meritor Health and Safety Management System and associated initiatives.
Oversee and participates with teams of persons to investigate all accidents and assist in the implementation of corrective actions.
Arrange for annual medical monitoring (as necessary) yearly eye and hearing examinations
Communication of safety performance.
Disability management-return to work programs.
Ensure first aid management through first aid and follow up to injuries, OSHA record keeping medical records, administering works compensation and pre-employment physical examinations.
Comply with the Meritor written environmental (ISO 14001), (ISO 45001) and quality TS 16949 policies.
Maintain Meritor Safety Certification level requirements for the site.
Coordinates data acquisition and prepares environmental reports
Prepares and assures timely delivery of regulatory submittals
Assures all environmental permits and programs are current and up to date
Maintains, revises, develops site policies, procedures, to meet company policy and regulatory requirements
Maintains, reviews and revises recordkeeping systems related to specific EHS programs in accordance with regulatory and policy requirements
