Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an opening for a Fleet Vehicle Mechanic / Technician at its Granite City, IL. facility.
The Granite City facility produces and distributes Liquid Nitrogen, Oxygen, and Argon as well as bulk Hydrogen and Liquid Hydrogen throughout the Midwest and Canada. You will report to the Granite City Distribution Site manager and will be responsible for the maintenance of Company owned tractors and trailers.
We are seeking an energetic, highly motivated, well-organized self-starter with a strong commitment to Safety. We are looking for a strong teammate with the ability to work well with fellow mechanics, drivers, and operations personnel.
As a Vehicle Mechanic/Technician, the primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and repairs on the Company's fleet equipment which includes Class A tractors, Class B straight trucks, cryogenic tankers, and tube trailers.
- Document/record work performed electronically on computer-based maintenance system
- Maintain personal safety and training requirements using electronic training system
- Perform road repairs when necessary
- Perform electrical/electronic repairs on tractors and trailers
- Participation in the Company’s Safety, Training, Environmental and Improvement programs
Additional job responsibilities (with on-the-job training provided) will include:
- Perform cryogenic maintenance to include repair/replacing valves, piping, pumps, etc.
- Perform tube trailer maintenance to include repair/replacing valves, fittings, etc.
- Calibrate pump discharge meters
- Spot/move trailers as needed
- Building and grounds maintenance as needed
- General housekeeping
- Help manage Fleet inventories including parts, tires, lubricants, and fuels
Qualifications:
- High School diploma/equivalent
- 3-5 years strong diesel vehicle repair experience
- Strong mechanical background, with computer experience/skills
- Solid work history
- Ability to drive Class A and Class B tractors
- Welding knowledge and experience preferred
- Electrical troubleshooting skills on 12 volt DC circuits
- Diesel engine troubleshooting and repair experience
- Trade school graduates are encouraged to apply
- Class A CDL license preferred but not required
