The Building Construction Products team at Caterpillar designs, manufactures, markets and supports Caterpillar’s line of small, versatile construction machines and attachments for the commercial construction, residential construction, specialty trades, landscaping and agriculture industries. Specifically, in Clayton, NC, we manufacturer small wheel loaders (SWL) used for a variety of purposes across the industries we serve. If you are a supply chain or manufacturing operations professional are looking to continue your career in an impactful role, we have an excellent opportunity for you to join the team as a Production Scheduling Manager .
Specifically, you can expect to focus on two key areas:
- From an execution perspective, you will:
- Execute the facility’s Monthly Sales and Operations Planning Process. This requires analyzing key inputs including sales forecasts, dealer inventory, facility capacity, and other factors to generate an achievable production plan which optimizes customer sales, product availability, and operational efficiency for the facility.
- Create and maintain the facility Build Schedule which must consider assembly constraints, a diverse product mix, manpower availability, seasonal considerations, new product introductions, and near-term sales opportunities.
- Coordinate the Worldwide Executive Product Program (EPP) for SWL responsible for analyzing scenarios and developing Action plans to reach target utilization coordinating with Business Resources, Operations, Marketing and others.
- Own responsibility for Phase in and Phase Out activities for NPI as it pertains to final production of models phasing out and the ramp up for models phasing in
- From the Supervise and Lead perspective:
- Lead a team of three members that perform the functions of Engineering Changes, Dealer Kitting, Attachment Forecasting, and Order Slotting and Management. As their leader you will develop a deep technical understanding of these job roles.
A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:
- Analytical Skills: You will need to understand numerous complexities in product, assembly constraints, method of distribution, and several other inputs. Your high analytical skills serve you well in considering these inputs, with often conflicting demands, to deliver the best recommendations.
- Teamwork: You will participate in numerous cross departmental projects often, work directly with Caterpillar’s global dealer network, the Small Wheel Loader Product Group and Marketing teams, and all departments at the facility.
- Leadership: You will focus on respecting and engaging team members, putting facility goals ahead of personal objectives, and effective communication skills.
- Lean Thinking : You will drive the incorporation of error proofing and lean manufacturing concepts into the Demand and Order department’s processes.
- Customer Focus: This individual is laser focused on the customer both internal and external (dealers) customers.
- Managing Change and Agility: This individual must adapt quickly to changes and help the team embrace the changes.
Top Candidates for this position may also have:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- At least 10 years Supply Chain experience including at least 5 years being in Demand or Orders OR 15 years of experience in an assembly setting performing duties in at least 3 functional areas.
- Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing principles
- Experience scheduling in a manufacturing or assembly environment with a high degree of product complexity
