DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Service Engineer to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Corporate Business at one of our Cummins Inc. locations, or if applicable, your remote home office, within the United States.
In this early career role as a Service Engineer, you will have the opportunity to support current product and new product development. You will support Service needs for Cummins customers, be part of investigations, determine product failure modes and work on product improvements.
As a Service Engineer you will:
- Apply engineering disciplines and business management skills to develop products for Servicing Cummins products in the field, problem solving service-related issues and enhancing service products after launch.
- Complete hands-on work from diagnosing an issue on the product to reviewing failed parts to determine root cause of the failure.
- Supporting the identification, resolution, and implementation of fixes on product issues · Initial data capture and warranty claim information processing.
- Site visitation and field investigation for potential product issues.
- Supporting OEM account teams in finding resolutions to customer issues.
- Component failure assessment and processing
- Be part of end customer support collaborating with actual users of our products and the service network that supports our products.
- Create and develop diagnostics to repair products in the field.
- Provide information to Service and Product Warranty, like Service and Operating manuals and Standard Repair Times.
- Support the development of Train the Trainer packages to ensure the service channel is prepared to maintain and fix Cummins products.
You will make an impact by:
- Developing and executing complex plans to deliver industry leading service support work items for Cummins products.
- Ensuring serviceability expectations of the Cummins product are met using data and analysis to drive decisions.
- Developing diagnostics trouble shooting trees and Standard Repair Times for service events
- Analytically investigating product, system and/or technology problems and recommending appropriate actions for problem resolution and/or optimization
- Using your knowledge of fundamental Engineering Disciplines to understand mechanisms, recommend appropriate action and document problem resolutions.
- Actively engage in product problem solving and product failure mode avoidance
- Understanding product systems requirements and demonstrate a systems thinking approach to work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need:
- A College, University or equivalent Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field
- Effective communication skills along with strengths in logic, planning and decision making.
- Experience using Microsoft Office tools or equivalents, especially Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Prior hands-on product experience is preferred, but not required.
- A postgraduate (Master’s or PhD) degree is typically NOT required for Service Engineer roles.

2024 Salary Ranges by Degree Level:
- Bachelor's - $64,800 - $97,200
- Master's - $76,000 - $114,000
- PhD - $84,800 - $127,200
Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
Cummins Full Time Requirements:
- College, university, or equivalent technical experience required
- Minimum 2.5 GPA required
- Must be able to complete 40 hours per week
- 0-2 years in a position/internship relating to your field of study preferred

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
