Overview
The Custom Spaces Sales Manager position is responsible for the execution and growth of custom spaces sales in their store. This position partners with the General Manager and Store Managers of their store, as well as their Custom Spaces Market Manager, to drive a high quality customer experience for all inquiries, leads and sales of custom spaces. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position.

Responsibilities
- Drives incremental sales for the store through the sale of Custom Spaces
- Responsible for daily coordination of design service engagements, web inquiries, quotes, design reviews and order processing
- Defines daily/weekly expectations for the store leads as it relates to Custom Spaces
- Drives custom spaces selling efforts in-store through training and establishing best practices and consistency within the store
- Responsible for communicating all updated training and process information to the store teams as it relates to selling custom spaces
- Acts as liaison and provides support for the store’s In-Home Organizers
- Partners with Installation Services on customer’s measurements and installation needs
- Prioritizes time on the salesfloor in Custom Space area with an emphasis on training and coaching the team for the purpose of driving sales and improving the customer experience
- Meets regularly with the Design and Sales team to evaluate the selling performance of the store as it relates to custom spaces
- Partners with the Visual Manager on the visual presentation of the Custom Space area – ensuring that it is well maintained and organized.
- Partners with the Custom Spaces Market Manager to make sure appropriate training is scheduled and is implemented, evaluating the effectiveness of the training and identifying additional training needs of the staff
- Partners with the Custom Spaces Market Manager on Custom Design Center reporting conversations and follow-up
- Manages the salesfloor @15 hours per week
- Is actively involved in recruiting, hiring and Onboarding, working with the General Manager to identify needs, set hiring goals, plan for seasonal needs and balance the skills and experience needed in the stores
- Responsible for new employee training as well as on-going training development with a focus on our solutions-based selling approach
- Leads, coaches and trains the staff by managing behavior, actions, goals and performance through proper communication and follow-up
- Actively engages with employees on the salesfloor through observation, conversation and coaching as well as modeling proper selling and visual sales techniques with customers
- Communicates consistently with the General Manager and participates in weekly Manager Meetings
- Supports all company initiatives and directives (sales, visual, training, operations, staff development, etc.) ensuring successful execution
- Writes and conducts performance appraisals for direct reports and participates in full-time and part-time reviews when appropriate
- Monitors and ensures the store is compliant in all legal matters and communicates any needs or concerns to the appropriate parties
- Takes corrective action when necessary, collaborating with the Vice President of Stores and the management team on the appropriate conversations, actions, follow-up and documentation
- Is responsible for supporting store payroll expense plan and partners with the General Manager to use payroll and labor effectively
- Maintains awareness of regional marketing, public relations, advertising and community involvement activities in the market
- Stays current and evaluates all company and store-specific reporting and applies that knowledge to driving sales and affecting positive change in the store
- Works with the scheduling system and Store Managers to create weekly and daily schedules

Qualifications
- College degree preferred
- 3-5 years management/leadership experience
- Experience in retail sales field, preferred
- Ability to travel 10% a year, based on the business needs
- Experience coaching and managing teams – balancing the details as well as the broader view of the business
- Experience managing others including career development, directing and evaluating work
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner
- Is committed to working scheduled hours and has the flexibility to work additional hours based on changing business needs
- Knowledge of industry business and passion for following trends in the industry
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a professional manner, both orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the organization
- Ability to quickly separate the mission-critical tasks from the lower priority tasks; focuses on the most value-added projects of the day or week
- Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects at once
- Possesses focused attention to detail while working quickly and accurately under pressure
- Makes strategic and effective decisions in the best interest of our customers and our company, taking care to objectively process information
- Must be at least 18 years of age
