Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) – Active Top Secret / SCI Eligibility Required

HOW AN ISSO WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

Plannings, developing, implementing, and maintaining programs, policies, and procedures to protect the integrity and confidentiality of stand-alone systems, networks, and data.

Providing system security management to ensure stand-alone systems/networks are operated and maintained in accordance with (IAW) regulatory guidelines and in-house implemented policies and procedures.

Administering the unit’s security training by ensuring users, operators and managers are provided awareness training for their level of responsibility and administering refresher training as necessary.

Identifying unit-unique training requirements and provide to the Government ISSO.

Preparing and/or assisting in the development of system/network accreditation documentation.
-
Initiating action on re-accreditation when changes affecting security occurs.

Preparing, distributing and maintaining plans, instructions, guidance, and standing operating procedures concerning the security of system operations.

Ensuring Automated Information System (AIS) activities comply with established security procedures.
-
Developing and reviewing computer system operating instructions for security procedures.
-
Administering and implementing the computer security program.

Assisting with data transfers, reviews of medical devices, issuance of CDs, and working closely with the Government ISSO and Branch Chief to enhance the security program.

Conducting risk assessments on equipment, systems/networks IAW regulations and policies governing information systems security.

Responding to AIS incidents, performing initial evaluation of each incident, beginning corrective measures, and reporting and tracking all incidents.

Designing, installing, maintaining and administration of AIS systems and network equipment to support program operations.

Performing security and vulnerability testing and implementing all necessary patches and upgrades to stand-alone in-house networks.

Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of equipment costs, external assistance costs, software licensing, and personnel costs.

Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field.

Required Experience: Minimum five (5) or Ten (10) years of relevant experience in information systems security in the DOD sector

Required Technical Skills: Must have qualifications outlined in DoD Instruction 8570.01-M for an Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II.

Security Clearance Level: Active Top Secret with SCI Eligibility

Working with senior government and military personnel and have exceptional written and verbal presentation skills.
-
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of physical requirements for accreditation and processing within Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) and Special Access Program Facilities (SAPFs).

Producing, handling, storing, transmitting, and transporting classified materials, up to and including Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAPs) and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).

Possessing and exhibiting excellent communication skills, with the ability to draft and present effective (clear and concise) reports, both written and oral

Efficiently, effectively, and professionally interacting with Civilian, Military, and Contractor personnel.

Conducting yourself in a professional manner and a high sense of integrity, working in a stressful and fast-paced environment.

Demonstrating outstanding customer service and communication skills while interfacing daily with senior executives (SES), senior ranking military officers, and other military and civilian personnel internal and external to the organization.

The likely salary range for this position is $119,000 - $161,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
