NIH Security Officer (Unarmed)
POSITION SUMMARY: Paragon Systems is seeking Full-Time Unarmed Guards to work at our client’s site. Candidates must be available to work evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays. The ideal candidate will serve to ensure the protection of the client’s property, employees and their property, twenty-four (24) hours a day, 365 days a year, in a structured regimen, with emergency response capabilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure that the client's property and its occupants are adequately protected against harm or loss by means of deterrence, detection, observation, and reporting
- Conduct security patrols as directed
- Conduct access control functions as directed
- Post familiarization, facility entry control, campus entry control, personnel/vehicle inspection processes
- Knowledge of lost and found property and controlled property procedures
- Produce and maintain security-related documents, reports, forms, and logs as directed
EQUIPMENT/ COMPUTER SKILLS: Security guards will be responsible for operating all security equipment on post, such as batons, OC Spray, X-ray machines, magnetometers, closed circuit television (CCTV), handcuffs, and (where required by post assignment) firearm at any time while on duty.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the security/law-enforcement/military field
- Must pass and maintain all required training, certifications, and licensing
- Minimum of 21 years of age
- Must be fluent in speaking, reading, comprehending, and writing English due to the nature of the position
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATION: Driver’s license, Social security card or birth certificate, and any other certification (guard/clearance card, applicable state/local gun/Armed Guard permit, OC permit Baton permit, CPR, First Aid.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Able to withstand the physical demands of the position and be capable of responding quickly in an emergency situation
- Available to work evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays
- Strong customer service skills
WORKING CONDITIONS: With or without reasonable accommodation, requires the physical and mental capacity to perform effectively all essential functions. In addition to other demands, the demands of the job include:
- Work is performed inside and outside the property with exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable crisis situations.
- Shift work required.
- Ability to remain on post for up to four (4) consecutive hours without eating, drinking, or relieving bladder/bowels.
- Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping, up to 12 hours per day, either indoors or outdoors, during daytime or nighttime.
Wage range for this position is $23.53 - $25.53 with a Health and Welfare benefit of $5.00 where applicable.
- Additional compensation of $1.00 - $3.00 may be available at sites requiring a Secret or Top Secret clearance.
- Some site assignments may include a shift differential of an additional $0.25 - $1.50 per hour.
