Job Purpose
The Senior Cost Engineer will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing cost control activities for the BP_ROO_EPCM project. This leadership position is critical to driving financial performance through precise estimating, rigorous monitoring, and comprehensive reporting of costs, as well as navigating changes in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the development and maintenance of detailed cost estimates for various project phases, with an emphasis on FEED design and Brownfield estimation.
- Oversee and perform extensive analysis of project costs, including VOWD (Value of Work Done), MLO (Monthly Level of Effort), and forecasts, ensuring incorporation of potential changes and risks.
- Manage and enhance change control processes; lead discussions to evaluate scope changes and their associated cost implications.
- Prepare and present comprehensive cost reports and job packages to the Project Controls Manager and senior leadership, highlighting financial performance and actionable insights.
- Analyze cost performance indices to track project health, identify trends, and recommend strategies for improved cost efficiency and budget adherence.
- Mentor and guide junior cost engineers and project team members, fostering their development and ensuring knowledge transfer across the team.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including procurement, finance, and project management to ensure alignment on cost objectives and deliverables.
- Implement cost management strategies and best practices across the project, leveraging industry experience to enhance processes.
- Act as the primary point of contact for cost-related inquiries and issues, effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support audits and compliance activities by providing necessary documentation and information pertaining to cost management.
Functional Responsibilities
- Take ownership of comprehensive cost control and analysis, ensuring accuracy and compliance with KBR’s financial standards.
- Conduct detailed reviews of contracts, subcontracts, and change orders to assess financial impacts and risks.
- Develop and maintain performance metrics and dashboards to monitor project cost performance.
- Innovate and lead workshops to improve cost forecasting and risk management practices within the project team.
Technical Skills
- Extensive expertise in cost engineering concepts and practices within the oil and gas industry, particularly in the realms of FEED design and brownfield project estimations.
- Proficient in cost estimating software, advanced project management tools, and industry-standard cost control methodologies.
- Strong analytical skills with a capacity to interpret complex data and translate them into actionable insights.

- Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in cost engineering, with a demonstrated history of managing deliverables such as VOWD, MLO/Forecasts, change control, and comprehensive cost reports in challenging environments.
- Proven track record in leading cost management efforts on large-scale projects.
Qualifications
- Mandatory: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
