POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials and equipment from suppliers for all brands of TWG.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Negotiates material components from manufacturing representatives or other sellers based on quality, cost, service, and delivery standards.
- Confers with new suppliers to seek out more cost-efficient products and establish and maintain a mutually beneficial relationship, foster feedback and continuous improvement, using scorecards and analytical tools.
- Generates reports needed for procurement using MRP-II, business planning software and other computer applications in order to forecast material requirements, determine delivery dates and to obtain best price of materials according to information on market trends while meeting inventory goals.
- Creates and review material requisitions and purchase orders for materials on a consistent and timely basis to support plant operations and meet/exceed inventory goals. Coordinate and take ownership for programs that will assist the operation in meeting/exceeding inventory objectives while ensuring build schedules can be produced as needed.
- Contacts approved carriers to arrange for transportation of purchases and to expedite shipping of critically needed materials within budgeted guidelines while supporting customer requirements and commitments.
- Provides volume forecasts to suppliers to ensure future supply needs can be met and to negotiate price discounts.
- Takes corrective action with suppliers for defective or damaged materials and communicate with shipping, receiving and QA personnel to determine and control conditions of goods and services.
- Works closely with management, plant personnel and suppliers to develop ways of improving the quality of materials and reducing landed costs.
- Works within establish guidelines related to system parameters and approved supplier lists to improve inter-department.
- Other essential duties and responsibilities may be assigned as required.
- This position is also responsible for, with authority to follow ISO procedures, initiate action to prevent problems, document quality problems, contribute to problem solutions, verify implementation of solutions, control further processing when a problem is identified, protect the environment, including preventing pollution, analyzing or identifying areas for correction or improvement.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or related field; 5-8 years’ experience in materials management, procurement, or related supply chain fields; or equivalent combined of education and experience. APICS CPIM or CSCP accreditation preferred.
- Must be able to travel as required and /or directed.
