Job Description
The foremost responsibility of the POC Engineer is to support Proof-of-Concept (POC) testing in their designated technology area(s).
The position is a pre-sales, customer-facing role which requires excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to present the advantages of Juniper technical capabilities in a manner that influences current and prospective customers to invest in Juniper solutions. A successful proof-of-concept engagement establishes customer preference for Juniper technology and drives revenue growth.
The Engineer must be capable of configuring complex functions on the applicable Juniper and supporting platforms, have thorough knowledge of at least two test equipment vendors’ products, and be able to translate solution architectures and customer test plans into functional environments meeting specified requirements. Advanced troubleshooting skills and knowledge of test plan development are required. Other tasks involve customer demonstrations, technical presentations, and technical documentation.
The POC Engineer must be a motivated engineer wanting to work at the cutting edge of networking technologies, enjoy hands-on testing, and customer interaction.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, configure, debug and present optimized proof-of-concept test configurations in response to Juniper-defined solution architectures or customer requirements, as appropriate.
- Consultative support for sales teams and customers as needed to ensure proof-of-concept test plans are correctly designed for use case(s) of interest.
- Expert level presentation of test methodologies and results in alignment with customer technical and business requirements contributing to achievement of assigned revenue targets
- Work with CSE peers, CPO and SE Specialist teams to define, develop and present Reference Test Plans that validate key attributes and showcase Juniper solutions in the best light to accelerate sales cycles and drive revenue.
- Participate in the review, negotiation, and approval of proof-of-concept test plans submitted by account teams to meet customer requirements.
- Manage the allocated POC staging time to allow for test plan refinement, configuration adjustments, and resolution of hardware problems or software bugs.
- Support proof-of-concept visits by accounts teams, customers, and partners via thorough preparation, successful presentation, and management of all technical aspects of the POC.
- Follow all POC lab procedures to ensure smooth operations and successful completion of customer engagements.
- Achieve and maintain JNCIP and JNCIE certification in the selected technology area.
- This position requires extensive hands-on lab work, excellent presentation and writing skills, the ability to travel on occasion, and the ability to quickly earn the trust of your customers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in engineering/computer science/telecommunications with 2-3 years of experience in the networking industry or 5 years equivalent work experience.
- Direct customer experience.
- Advanced knowledge of test plan methodologies.
- Mastery of Juniper CLI and/or network management commands, virtualization, and automation tools for products in the selected technology area(s).
- Excellent presentation and technical writing skills.
- Knowledge and experience of network design solutions for the selected technology area(s).
- GUI proficiency and scripting knowledge for at least two test vendors used for testing of Juniper products in the selected technology area(s).
- Advanced knowledge of the majority of the protocols and architectures used in the selected technology area(s).
- Advanced troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge and experience of Traffic Generator tools, IXIA / Spirent.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience in key technology areas:
- Service Provider Core (Advanced routing, MPLS, IPv6, BGP etc.)
- Data Center designs (EVPN, VXLAN, OSPF, ISIS, CFM, Apstra etc.)
- Cloud Technologies (Contrail Enterprise Multicloud, Azure, AWS or similar)
Other Information:
This position is based in Sunnyvale, CA and supports accounts globally. Responsible for full Juniper portfolio as well as 3rd party platform and enabling technology. The position reports to the POC Lab Manager or Director.
Minimum Salary: $176,800.00
Maximum Salary:$254,150.00
The pay range for this position is expected to be between $176,800.00 and $254,150.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
Juniper’s pay range data is provided in accordance with local state pay transparency regulations. Juniper may post different minimum wage ranges for permanent residency petitions pursuant to US Department of Labor requirements.
