Because of a key strategic development and a new exciting business opportunity, we have a requirement for a security-cleared, combined Software Architect based in the UK working at our Farnborough site and remotely. Leidos has more than 30 years’ experience of developing and running some of the largest government systems in the world. We are currently hiring to expand our UK based technical team who support our delivery for the UK Govt.

As a result of some exciting programme wins, we currently have a permanent vacancy for a security-cleared, combined Software Architect to support the development, transition & Operation (inc capability upgrades) of a new IT application and infrastructure solution providing support to a critical operational end user.
Your role and responsibilities;
The Software Architect will be responsible for managing a multi supplier pipeline over multiple secure environments. The role requires guiding and giving input into multiple teams into developing a delivery pipeline and reporting back to key stakeholders. The role will involve giving guidance to the, engineering teams infrastructure, software and network to setup the components required for delivery into the client estate. The role will provide technical exposure variance across both outcomes-based project activities and Operational (Business as Usual) support activities.
Your passions and experience will help you become a technical specialist and process owner with our Programme. You will be expected to contribute towards the creation and ongoing maintenance of technical documentation and provide material to support the Project work or the Operational Support service. The Software Architect &will provide input and expertise to senior engineers to maintain alignments with best practices and recommending system improvements while overseeing the delivery
including automated deployment, roll-back, monitoring of applications delivering into multiple development, test and production environments.
This individual is expected to create an environment for innovation and technical mentoring. You will be self-motivated and be able to work autonomously to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant results on project or operational deliverables, whilst also owning a variety of processes and activities ensuring compliance with project milestones and customer KPIs and SLAs. You must be an effective communicator, and comfortable directly engaging with customers and colleagues. You must also demonstrate an analytical and systematic approach to technical challenges.
You will be responsible for:
Provide architecture skills and review solution designs as part of the delivery and growth processes
Lead from a technology perspective over the Release Train working across all teams to remove barriers help eliminate dependencies and risks and ensure the best Agile practices are followed.
Work with delivery teams to design and implement and integrate modern, scalable products using a range of new and emerging technologies
Lead on all development and deployment solution aspects including creating pipeline processes and providing your deep technical expertise to Leidos programme teams
Collaborate with customers on all aspects of deployment and delivery including the assurance and integration of services to meet the needs of multiple lines of business
Recognise and exploit business opportunity by leveraging architecture and design best practice
Communicate effectively across organisational, technical and political boundaries, understanding the context
We are looking for someone with excellent organisation, communication and leadership skills who has:
In particular Scrum and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) being an expert in breaking down deliverables via epics and stories to ensure traceability of requirements both functional and non functional over the delivery. Modelling best agile culture and practice helping to guide continuous improvement across the program
Have an understanding of DevOps tooling including Jira, Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins and other pipeline technologies
Experience with software engineering best practices for:
Java, Python, BPEL
Have experience of containerisation concepts and tools such as Docker and Kubernetes (AKS)
Have experience of system integration methodologies
Have experience of API development and management, including rigorous test and assurance processes
Have good general knowledge of Networking Technologies including load balancing and firewalls
Have excellent knowledge of Windows Server Environments, including OS build, AD, DNS, DHCP and GP from design to implementation and support
Have excellent knowledge of Linux Environments including network administration, and networking protocols/functions (e.g., HTTP, HTTPS, SSL/TLS, SMTP, DNS)
Have good general knowledge of Microsoft Stack technologies such as MS SQL, MS System Centre, Office365, MS Exchange & CLI tooling such as PowerShell
Database technologies including MySQL, PostgreSQL and Cassandra
Experience with Web Services, APIs and Data Distribution Protocols
Have excellent analysis and problem solving skills, taking ownership of complex incidents ensuring these are resolved to the satisfaction of the customer
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
